Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Two under two - how do you do it?

For those mom's with two kids under two years old. How do you do it?

My SIL has a little girl who turns two next month and a ten week old baby boy.  The two year old has changed her cry to sound like the baby and cry a whole lot more often - we figure she's jealous and has figured out that when the baby crys it gets attention....  She's a very smart little girl but she's resorting back to being a baby again.

Do you have this problem? How are you handling it?  Any suggestionns on what she should do? She's a stay at home mom and its driving her crazy.

TIA!

  • I stepped up my 1-on-1 time with DD1.  It's hard to do occasionally, but it's cut down on the tantrums quite a bit.

  • Like PP said I try to have as much 1/1 time as possible and involve him in baby care.  I ask him to bring a toy or pacifier etc.  Then when I know she nurses I make sure he is doing something he loves-plaing in the yard, taking a bath, reading books, etc.  He still has some tantrums but not too many.

  • We were  blessed b/c DD1 started getting facinated with baby dolls before I had LO.  When her little sister came home she was all over her and totally in love.  She always is trying to play with "Baby" and has now started calling her "my baby".  We haven't had issues with jealousy yet and I'm hoping we don't.  We really try to give her as much attention now though.
