This list is based on names people searched for, not what babies were actually named. I've searched for some weird baby names because they're strange and not names I would ever use for my child. Some unknown percentage of the people conducting these searches were probably doing the same. I'd be interested to compare this list with the ACTUAL popular names of 2010 and see how many are the same. My bet is there won't be many in common. Of course, now that they've put out this list even more people will be searching for these names.

I totally agree. I would be suprised for example if Isabella was too far down, and shocked if it's not in the top 10.
Ugh, Navi. I hated Avatar (did appreciate the special effects). I can't even wrap my brain around wanting to name my child after a make-believe tribe of space people.

Ok, who seriously considers naming their kid "St. John"??? To me, that's the most ridiculous. I mean, if you want to name your kid after St. John, then name him "John" not "St. John."

This exactly. Most parents cast a wide net at the beginning of their search but ultimately pick something more conservative, so I don't think this is really indicative of future naming patterns.
That said, I'm hoping it's not because my first pick boy's name is on the list, and I don't want to see it get super-popular.
I'm not surprised at all that Sookie's on there with True Blood being the big hit it is. Not that I'd name my child Sookie, but still not surprised. Just glad to see my LO's name wasn't on that list.
Re: Hottest names of 2010 so far...
Sookie and Lux?? Seriously?
Some are kind of nice, like Maelle and Mhairi (IMO) but naming your child after a luxury car is just never a good idea...

At least it isn't snookie...
