1st Dr Appt Today!!
I'm SO excited, but, kind of nervous too. Focusing on the excitement though.
We're also telling Brett's mom and grandma tonight. His mom isn't very emotional and we just started getting along once we moved here. I hope everything goes well. Brett is SO excited to tell them....he's been the one planning how to tell them. I love it.
I asked Nicole this, but, I want to ask everyone else too. I'm 10 weeks, 4 days today. Should we be able to hear the heartbeat today? I know we'll see it, but is it pretty likely we'll hear it too?

Squeee! So exciting!
I think it's hit or miss...but we were able to hear the heartbeat at my 1st appointment (I think I was exactly 10 weeks?).

We were able to hear the heartbeat at my first appt. So exciting and make it that much more real.

We didn't hear the HB at my first appointment. Maybe I'm the odd man out though.

My doctor wouldn't even try to hear a HB at 9.5 weeks because he didn't want me to get upset if he couldn't get it, since it's supposed to be hit or miss at that point. When I cried about it, he took me to the antiquated u/s machine in the office to see it.

I was 10 weeks 6 days when the doctor first tried and found the heart beat, but like others have said, it is hit and miss. When I went to the ER at 11w2d the doctor took like 15 minutes to find it (but she had to find it since I had unexplained heavy bleeding).

I heard the hb at 9w6d, but the midwife almost didn't try. She said that we might not hear it and didn't want me to freak out. Of course I made her try though, and she found it within seconds. Good luck!
::::Happy Dance:::: I can't remember the last time I looked forward to a Monday so much!! LOL
It can be hit or miss - depending on lots of factors - so no worries if you can't hear it with the Doppler yet.
I'd have to look at my book, but it was between 8 & 11 wks, whenever my appt was... it is an amazing sound!
