Good Morning!
AF decided to rear her ugly head this weekend, so it's on to the next cycle for us. I've decided to go beyond temping to pinpoint ovulation this month from drinking Green Tea to increase CM (I never get EWCM) to using OPK.
I've read a lot of info on OPK, but would like to hear some first hand experiences from everyone on here. When you test, do you just test once a day or twice? And what time do you test, I've heard that around 2:00 p.m. is ideal.
I'd appreciate any advice you ladies have for me.
Re: OPK Question
When I first started I tested 2x/day. Once with FMU and once around 5:30. After a few cycles I noticed I was only getting +'s with FMU so I stopped the second test. I definetly recommend doing it 2x/day since and LH surge can be as short as 12 hours.

I just ordered 40 of them on amazon for $10. So looks like I can pee on as many sticks as I want! hah!
When do you girls start testing? My cycle varies so much. I O anywhere from day 11 to 16, although I have had a few cycles that CD 13=my O date. If I started testing on CD 11 do you think I'd catch my LH surge?
The best times are the 4 days leading up to, the day of and the day after. Your chances are still good.
If your earliest O day was cd11 I would start testing on CD8. If you are already passed that just start now. That way you are sure.

Hmm lots of things...
Early morning opks are not the most positive because for many LH is processed during sleep.
2 +opks are nothing to worry about. Many get them for multiple days. General rule of thumb is that you ovulate 12-48 hours after the last +
A +opk does not actually mean that you ovulate. Only charting can confirm that.
We do EOD until a +opk then everyday until ovulation is confirmed with a temp shift.
Also, don't stop taking the OPKs until O is confirmed with a temp shift because your body can fake out.

No it does not confirm ovulation. OPKs detect the level of LH in your system. When your body gears up to ovulate the LH surges which gives you a +opk. Your body can gear up and not release an egg. Only temping can tell you if you actually ovulate after a +opk
I started on CD20. I can usually tell with my CM when I'm getting closer to O. I tested once a day with FMU until I got a +, then I tested 2x per day. This was my first cycle using them, and I was surprised to get positives 2x per day for 5 days. This is exactly why you should also temp! I would never have known which one of those days I likely Oed without temping.
I also realize that using FMU is not advised, but I easily get positives with it. Some people don't though, so you might try the afternoon.
My Ovulation Chart
NO NO NO NO.
You can get a period and NOT O. A period does NOT mean you Oed. Not now, not yesterday, not ever.
