Nursery progress

Since I've tired yall endlessly with my decorating questions, here are some of the results.

Marion's little reading corner.  The dark spot on the right is the back corner of her crib.

Partially completed teething rail on her crib.  After seeing the yellow up against the wall color, I think I'm going to do both cribs with yellow rails and a yellow crib skirt for the baby's crib

One curtain panel (I had a brain fart and didn't order enough material for two panels.)

And one changing pad with a bow board (but I can already tell with two girls, I'm going to have to have more bow storage space!)

Re: Nursery progress

  • I really wish I had wall space for a book nook!!

  • Looks great!  I'm really intrigued by the book nook... do you have directions?  How hard was it?
  • I love the reading nook! And the fabrics looks great - I like the pop of the yellow against the blue walls.

Please share your paint color....  I've been killing myself trying to find the right grey with a hint of blue...

Did you make the bow board?  I need one of those too :)

  • Agree with others - I LOVE the booknook!  Looks like it's made with a drapery rod??

bpaullo:  the bow board is really easy to make!  I'm sure kat made her own - she is so creative!  I have a very basic how-to written on my blog here: https://nanannwoogies.wordpress.com/2010/02/22/we-interrupt-these-sewing-olympics/

  • The book nook tutorial is here

It is made with a double curtain rod.  I was concerned at first that there wouldn't be enough space between the rods, but there's plenty of space after all.  And I just used a double rod from BB&B, not making my own like she does. The one complaint I have with it, if you want to say that, is that since Mar is still small, a lot of her books are small.  Her favorite books don't pop up over the top of the rail.  I could have made the pocket shorter, but it didn't look as attractive that way.  I'm sure Mar will still find plenty of uses for it though!

Brandi, the bow board is super simple.  Take a picture frame, pop the glass out and do something else with it, cover the cardboard inserts with fabric and ribbon (I used hot glue to secure it around the back) put it back in the picture frame and it's done.

Also, the color is Behr's Stormy Passage I think.  It's a lot, lot, lot bluer than I wanted it to be.  I wanted a darker grey, but I think it's working out okay.  It's one of those colors that changes shades from hour to hour depending on how much sunlight is in the room.

  • Super cute!! I love the book nook too..what a great idea! I really need to take sewing classes :)...
  • It is so cute!!  Love the colors!  I think I need to do a book nook for Aiden when he is a little bigger.
