**KimiKas**

First off, sorry if I spelled your name wrong. I couldn't quite remember how it was spelled.

Anyway, I just stumbled upon your post telling teachers to "STFU" and was quite offended. I think I speak for the teacher in that post - and all of us on this board - when I say that we could care less about a school "losing money" because a family chooses to homeschool. If you think that is why she posted her reponse in support of schools, you seriously misunderstood. We defend schools because we believe passionately in the importance of qualified teachers educating our posterity. I, for one, find it insulting when any Joe Schmo thinks he can do my job - a job that I have a Master's degree to do - as well as I can. Anyway, to get to the point, your reply was rude and totally out of line.

Re: **KimiKas**

  • I think it would be nice to support someones decision more than posting what you like. It's something that's come up a lot in homeschooling posts.

  • First of all, you were a douche in the way you responded.... so much so that I would think an apology to the teacher-poster would be warranted.

Second of all, the OP was seeking advice, not just stating her "decision," and teachers have every right to offer their opinion of homeschooling as advice. I, like the teacher-poster, would advise most people against homeschooling unless it's some sort of extreme circumstance or if the parent is a certified teacher.

  • Am I losing sleep over it? Nope.

She posted her advice, I replied that it was shoddy advice. The end.

Plus there are a lot of homeschooled children out there who I would say that their parents are more qualified than a teacher with a :gasp: Masters.

  • Wow. You throw your master's degree around and then call someone a douche? I'm sorry, Master's degree, with a capital M. Surely you can think of a better jibe than "douche."

     * chalmette hopes you don't teach English

  • And please give me an extreme circumstance. Because you know, these people churn out babies and gladly send them to public/private school. Heaven forbid someone getting actively involved in their child's schooling.

  • Chalmette - I wasn't the one being rude here. Did you even read her original post that I was referring to? Out of the blue, she told some teacher to "stfu". That poster was not rude at all, and KimiKas's reaction was completely unwarranted. She WAS being a douche, and yep, I felt that was a pretty fitting description. When did this involve you, anyway?

More power to you. The OP said "Anyone successfully homeschooling, if so what resources do you use?" She didn't say "Is this a good idea to homeschool?"

Then the teacher said "wooo I heart school!!!" and "I think the best way for parents to ensure their kids are getting a good education is to stay very involved with the school.  Get to know the teachers and volunteer.  Your children will see how much you value education and they will learn to value it too." What does that have to do with the question? I think the last line is BS by the way.

The teacher that posted did what a number of teachers have done on this board. Lost their reading comprehension and gone off on how great the public school system is. If that was so, why are there record numbers of homeschooling being recorded? And No. This did not come from a pro-homeschooling site. This was TIME MAGAIZINE, Nielson, even Princeton got in on the studies. It's something thats become really popular.

Call me a douche. I wont retract what I said. She didn't spazz, you did. Do I need to tell you to STFU as well?

  • It involves me b/c you posted it on a national message board. Der.

And you make those of us with Master's degrees who are actually intelligent look bad when you obviously can't read for comprehension.

Anddddddddddddddddddddddd you don't know KimiCas, so perhaps you should stop short of assumptions about her character.

  • LOL, I heart you Kimi.
