Holy Diahrea!

My son has been sick with diareha since Monday night, he is barely nursing and what he does just goes right through him. Were feeding him pedilyte non stop as much as we can get him to drink but im just getting really nervous its now Friday and this hasnt let up yet!  He has a horrible diaper rash now from all the poop, but seems fine during the day as he will still play but does have bouts of real crankiness.  Wow am i stressed

    yes i took him in Wed and they said ears,throat,chest all looked fine and its just a virus going around and we would just have to ride it out. They said it could take 5-10 days for him to get rid of it.

    10 days?!  That would be miserable.  Poor lil guy.  I hope he feels better soon.  I am glad that he'll drink pedialite...DD hates it.

    You may want to pump a little.  I had a major supply drop after DD was sick and she was sooo hungry after she got better.

    At six months on the nose ds got a gastro illness - diarrhea and vomitting.  The vomitting and stomach upset only lasted about 2 days, but it took him almost two weeks to get rid of the diarrhea.  And it was god awful bring you to your knees horrible!  Same thing...just a virus had to pass on it's own.

    If he's eating solids (ds hadn't started yet at 6 months) you can give banana, rice cereal, applesauce and toast (brat diet).  It can help firm things up.  Otherwise, just patience and plenty of fluids.

    Hope he's feeling better soon!
