Need help with gas problems

DD is extremely gassy. We've been giving her the Mylicon drops, but they don't seem to be helping, she still cries from the pain while tooting. The only thing I've found that somewhat calms her is to lay her on her stomach and rub her back. I plan on calling her pedi tomorrow. Anyone else's LO like this? What do you do to help? I hate seeing her in pain, especially knowing I can't do anything to help it. TIA.

Re: Need help with gas problems

  • Bicycle her legs while she's on her back, also lift her legs up to her chest and back.  I also rub DS's tummy or place a warm washcloth on it.  Seems to help.  GL!

  • Do you BF or FF? If you BF it could be related to your diet. We FF, and DD was very gassy so we switched to Similac Sensitive formula. We also changed her bottle to Playtex VentAire. We noticed a HUGE difference in the gassiness within a few days. GL :)

I FF. I tried Similac Sensitive because it said something about helping with gas and not even10 minutes after eating she threw up everything. I'm using Dr. Brown's bottles right now, but I'll try the Playtex and see if that helps. Thanks.

Not sure if you did this or not, but you have to slowly introduce a new formula if you are trying to switch. If you give them a whole bottle of something new it will most likely upset their stomach.

First mix half of the new formula with half of the current formula for a few days and see how your DD tolerates it. This is what we did for about five days before giving a whole bottle of the new formula.
