W will only eat purees, baby puff or baby cheetos. He refuses to eat any sort of fruit, veggie, meat or anything that isn't pureed. We can't feed him purees forever, and he should start eating big people food soon. If, on the off-chance, he does open his mouth for it, it gets spit right back out as soon as he realizes he has to chew it. Any advice?
Re: Getting a 10 month old to eat solid foods
What exactly has you concerned?
Is he not eating at all or just not eating solids? He's only 10 months - no need to get worked up about it just yet. Just keep working at it, and you might want to be consistent with a food that he likes.
Babies also like to feed OTHER people which can lead to them feeding themself. I.E. Give daddy a cheerio YUMMY! Now you eat one!! Good Job!! Try making it a game for him.
Good luck - but no need to worry about it. Eventually he'll pick it up.
He'll eat formula and purees, just no finger foods or anything he has to chew. I guess I'm worried that it's a texture thing, which he would have gotten from me. I was and am an extremely picky eater and it was really hard on me growing up. I couldn't ever go to a friend's house for dinner because I most likely wouldn't eat what they were having. I just don't want that for him I guess. I'm overreacting, I know.
We've tried having him feed us, and it never turns into him eating. He will feed us all day long but as soon as we try to get him to eat one, he freaks out.
Again I'd say relax he just isn't ready yet, and if he's picky (like my DS2) you'll find ways to deal with it... i.e. telling the parents of the friends who want him over for dinner that he's a picky eater. Let them know a couple of things he WILL eat so you don't have to worry.
It will be okay... :-)
Thanks
I kind of knew that I'm overreacting, I just needed someone else to tell me that it was all going to work out. I hope that he isn't picky, but I guess I can't really change it if he is.
