I'm on the pill, but think I may be pregnant!

I am 25 years old, I have 2 children already. I have been on the pill (different types) since I was 16, except for when I was pregnant with no problems.


I'm on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo currently.


I have NOT missed a pill.


I started taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo in March/April after the doctor switched me from TriNessa, because it was making me go crazy. Anyway, I haven't had any problems on OTCL, except I had like a 2 week long bleeding spell (guess it was breakthrough bleeding)...this happened in May/early June. Since then I had a normal period once my pill pack ended, on the placebo pills.


I'm married so obviously I am sexually active regularly, with no other form of birth control, other than the pills. I started a new pill pack on Sunday (3 days ago), but the problem is, I didn't really have a period. It was only a day or 2 of light bleeding and I only soaked through maybe 2 tampons total. I also didn't really have any cramping, and I usually get pretty bad cramping. I didn't think much of it...but yesterday when I woke up, I noticed a tiny bit of pinkish/red spotting. I feel like my boobs are heavier and I have noticed some other symptoms that could be pregnancy related, but could also be blamed on other things (slight nausea, headaches, slight heartburn, constant drippy nose/sneezing, tiredness, peeing often etc). I pee a lot anyway, but it seems like it's  been more lately-peeing a lot was one of the first things I noticed with my last pregnancy!


Today (Wednesday) I am feeling very slight nausea, and cramping on and off. I usually never cramp after my period is finished.
Is it possible I am pregnant? I have been reading about a lot of women who have gotten pregnant while using OTCL (particularly women who aren't "petite"-I am just averaged sized 5'9'', 170 lbs).
I am not wanting another baby, neither is my husband so I am afraid to even test.


Is it even possible that I am pregnant? Like I said, I haven't missed a pill, nor am I on any other medication. I usually take the pill at 8PM every night, but there were a few times that I took it an hour or so later, because I was away from my house.
Was the bleeding I had just a light period, or possibly pregnancy related?
I am driving myself nuts with this. I think I am going to buy a test tomorrow, though I REALLY don't want to (I thought I was done with this whole pregnancy thing for now!)
Please give me some advice and opinions to ease my mind until I can get a test (I am stuck home without a car right now!)

    I'm willing to bet you're not pregnant. It can take months for your body to acclimate to new birthcontrol. Also? The way the pill works is to make your body think it's pregnant so it doesn't mature and release an egg that month. It also thins the uterine lining making it less likely for an egg to implant, should it get fertilized. I was pretty alarmed by how similar the side-effects of the pill are to pregnancy symptoms, too. It's the addition of synthetic hormones to your body that you are reacting to, and most likely not pregnancy-related. However...the only way to know for sure is to test. So? Test.

    From what I gather, light brown blood=old blood and possible implantation bleeding. However, if it was red and you had to use a tampon I would bet that you are not pregnant.

    If you think you are pregnant take a test! We cant tell you if you are pregnant! You say you haven't missed a pill, but you started a new pill pack. I really doubt you are! The symptoms you are noticing could just be your body adjusting to the new pill sometimes the levels in the pills are different. Good luck!

    When you are in doubt, please take a test.  We can't help you there.  Plus, there is still the possibility of getting KU while on the pill.  GL

    It doesnt sound like youre prego again, BUT this is comeing from someone who GOT PREGNANT WHILE ON BC!!!!! I nevr missed a pill, NEVER!!!!!!!

     I didnt know or show any symptoms AT ALL. I didnt even know til i was about to be 3 months!!!! I also was on a low dose hormone pill and my OB said thats basically why I wasnt fully protected.

    If its on you rmind, then just take a PT in 2 weeks!

    In case you haven't gathered, people on the boards don't like it when you ask us if you are pregnant since we don't know.  Just trying to help!

    You do realize if you had just taken a pregnancy test, instead of typing this all out and reading responses, you would know already. Right?

    Plus, a pregnancy test would be able to tell you if you are pregnant. Which, we can't do.
