Babies on the Brain

Do you think they have Home Maintenance for Dummies classes?

DH is hopeless. Cannot. Do. Anything.

I get so annoyed and frustrated with him because he cannot do the simplest of tasks - I am handier than he is. I  think what makes it worse is that my dad can fix anything, so I don't understand DHs lack of interest in home maintenance  or repairs.

For example, I wanted him to put on some child proof latches on the cabinets in the bathroom. He cannot do it. Argh!

I wonder if there are classes somewhere about the basics - how to use a drill, hang a picture, etc!

  • I just checked out the Home Depot ones - those are way too advanced for him. I will now go look a tthe community college courses!

  • Over the summer, our Lowes offers classes for children.  They build things like bird houses and planting boxes.  Maybe that would be a good place for him to start.  ;)
  • I, too, am way handier than DH. Our solution? I do the home repair stuff because I have the skillz and the interest in learning how.

    This is why I"m involved.

Not because I'm better at it than the Mr, but because I'm more likely to say things like...'can't you lift that flap and NOT take the entire tractor apart?' or "wait, can't we just stencil in the difference?'

Sometimes it's easier just to re-assign.
