Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Speaking of TTC- my friends awesome story : )

A friend of mine conceived her now 18 month old daughter on her fourth round of IVF, after many many years of TTC. She just announced that she is pregnant again, and did so without any interventions. She doesn't live locally anymore, but planned to come back here to the same clinic that knew her protocol, but they wanted to try on their own for a few months before making plans to go through IVF.

I'm so happy for her, and I love hearing stories like this! She is totally shocked, and totally excited that her DD is going to be a big sis!

  • What a great story!  Congrats to her!
  • That is awesome BUT let me also say as a former IF'er myself - sometimes (and only sometimes) the profound hormonal effect pregnancy has on a woman's body will allow an "infertile" to then conceive naturally.  Usually it's a limited window of opportunity and for the vast majority of infertiles - it won't happen.  Just have to throw that in there so no one thinks "see? she relaxed!" or some other goofiness.
    Wheee!

I hope she doesnt have to deal with comments like this! But, I dont believe she has shared her IF struggles with many people, so hopefully the ones that know will realize that this is simply a blessing, and doesnt mean she was doing anything different or "wrong" in the past.

  • Congrats to them! So exciting!

I'm going to hyjack your post and share a friend's story too. Stick out tongue

My BFF since middle school was given a 10% chance of getting pregnant without IVF.  She has tons of issues, but I won't get into that much detail.  Anyways, her and her DH started looking into it but were finding that they couldn't afford it. They decided to try on their own and got pregnant within a few months!
Their DS was 3 weeks early, but he is now thriving and nearing his 2nd b-day!
And here's the kicker - She's now starting her 2nd tri with baby #2!

Yay! How awesome. There are so many sad stories out there, of women who can't get pregnant, or have terribly difficult pregnancies, and far too many stories of miscarraiges and losses. Lately I have been feeling overwhelmed with the number of sad stories, both IRL and on here, that I have been hearing about, and so its refreshing to hear these amazing stories of your friend & of mine. Thank you for sharing.
