Hubby Deploying :(

We just found out in one week that I am pregnant (due in March) and Hubby has to deploy for 6 months which would put him back just in time to see baby #3 born. I have never gone through a deployment before on top of being pregnant with baby #3. I am freaking out! Help!

At least he'll be home for the birth--focus on that!  My H won't be, and likely won't be home until our second is almost 6 months old.  I'd kill for him to be home in just six months.

  • Thanks! I am def gonna try!
  • I'm sorry.  I know it sucks.  I've been through it myself.  Just focus on those little people and having a healthy pregnancy.  My grandma always said happy mommies make happy babies.  My advice is to stay busy.  There is a button in my siggy that will link you to the MN FAQ page.  There is a ton of info there about deployments.  Check it out.  You may find some of it helpful.

  • It will be hard without your DH, but I think you will have lots to do to prepare for baby and the time will fly.  It is nice your DH will be back and not miss the birth or first year!  We found out in the same week that I was PG and that DH was leaving on a 12 month deployment very soon after the due date.  I'd definitely rather he be gone now than be preparing to leave right after DD is born.
  • Like PP have said...focus on the fact that your DH will be there for the birth. That's a wonderful thing Smile My DH is leaving for an 18 month deployment and will miss our DD's first and second birthday. But I'm focusing on the fact that she'll be young enough not to remember much of it. So just look at the good side of things Smile

  • In my case Hubby deployed and less than 10 days later I got the positive pregnancy test. He set hs R&R for the end of Sept. Well we got lucky and about a month ago they told us that he was part of the RIF(reduction in forces) and would be home Mid-Aug most likely. That brings him home in time for baby which is AWESOME. I would have been find without him...but it's gonna be nice having him home for baby :)

Would I (or anyone) choose to be pregnant with a deployed Hubby....NO. We all survive though. I'm not going to tell you it's easy b/c it's NOT...but it's doable.

I'm here if you ever wanna talk...I know how hard it's gonna be for you!
