I was really skeptical 1. if this 3 day thing actually worked and 2. if my son was ready. He's been peeing in the potty for quite some time now...randomly....sometimes on his on, sometimes when we ask. We started cold turkey underwear on Thursday and he is doing so-so with peeing and not good at all with poo-poo. The book says it will just "click" like a magic moment where from that point forward they totally understand and abide by the potty training "rules". Actually, my plan was to use pull-ups at night but he is anti-diaper now after going through the ordeal of throwing diapers away (giving them away) so if by tomorrow night he still hasn't "clicked" I am not sure what to do. He will have to return to daycare and I don't know if hould I send him in underwear with a bunch of changes of clothes or we put back in diapers and try again in a few months. I don't know if he'll accept the diapers or not and after making the biggest production of being a big boy in big boy underwear...plus I don't want to hurt his feelings/confidence/confuse him with going back to diapers.
Re: Ending Day 3 and not much success
That's tough, I have no advice. Hang in there! he will be fine. I am also nervous to start because I feel he is a little young, looks like we are only a few weeks apart. Do you have the email version of the book? If so, can you email me the book? amber@ambersoter.com
I would keep at it. If he made any progress at all I wouldn't want to back peddle, just send him with tons of stuff to daycare (if they will do that). GOOD LUCK!!!!!
I didn't do the 3 day method with either of my children and have never read it so I have no experience with that but I did go straight to underwear with DS when he started showing signs of readiness. He was about 23 months old. It took him a week before he had an accident free day and was telling me every time he needed to go pee versus me taking him or reminding him to tell me. It took a little longer with poop. I would keep at it and just take extra clothes to daycare.
