Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Give me the colic rundown......

does it start at a certain age?

Are there signs besides being fussy?

Are they fussy all day all the time, never happy?

What can you do for it?

  • My daughter had colic, and it was a nightmare.  it started around 2-3 weeks of age, and she literally screamed, not cried, but screamed from about 5pm until 10 or 11pm, every single day.  It was complete insanity.  One thing that was terrible was that it didn't help her if i held her, or swaddled her, etc....nothing helped at all.  We tried every product on the market....we switched to Nutramigen formula, we bought different bottles, I tried Gripe Water, tylenol, Mylicon, car rides, putting her in her carseat on the dryer....you name it, we tried it.  Hers lasted what seems like forever, but it was probably about 4 months and she slowly came out of it.  Now she's the happiest, most fun little 2 year old ever.  And my DS is a totally different baby....no colic! yay!

From what I've read, this is an accurate description for colic. A lot of babies are diagnosed colicky but they are just adjusting to their world. A colicky baby can't be soothed.
