A lot of the time I see that it has taken many parents a year or more to get pregnant after getting off the pill. However, I do hear stories of it happening just a month after or not very long at all. We plan to start trying in September which is when I will be off the pill. I basically want to be pregnant now, but hubby wants to "stick with the September plan".
So I would LOVE to know if anyone out there got preggers within, oh say, 6 months or sooner after getting off the pill.
That would really boost my moral. I mean, I know I should expect that, but I sure would like to know that it's possible and not just a here and there situation.
Anyone?
Re: How long did it take you after getting off the pill?
I was not a faithful pill taker. I would forget one or two times at the beginning of the month and then remember every day for the rest of the month. That being said, I was taking the pill for most of October (only forgetting one or two) and then I quit taking the pill in November. I only stopped taking the pill for the month of November because I didn't take it 3 days in the first week.
Anyway, I was pregnant by the end of November. My original plan was to stop taking the pill in January in hopes to get pregnant on vacation in February. Turns out the pill really only works if taken properly
It was a good surprise and now I only have 6 weeks until I get to meet my baby girl!
It is really different for everyone. The first person I ever talked to on this board got pregnant her first cycle off the pill. It took us 8 months. It takes other people years. Good luck to you!

Our plan was September as well. I went off the pill last month, after the doctor said we should be off for 3 months before we start trying....and well...it happened right away. I'm pregnant!
I am seeing the doctor tomorrow because my Hcg levels were a little high. This could simply be because I had been on the pill but we'll see....
It can definitely happen right away, so just have faith!
My DH and I had originally planned to start trying in March of this year, but we decided that I should stop taking my pills earlier then that so I stopped January 1. We are now on month 7 of trying so it just depends on the person. I suggest to all of my friends who want to start trying to stop taking their pills a month or 2 earlier then they planned becasue typically it will take longer for most people, but it would be really awesome if it happened earlier because what's a month or 2 when it means having your bebe sooner = )
Have fun trying = )
I was on the pill for a year and it (literally) made me crazy, so I used the last of it this past February and decided that was it. DH and I TTC immediately and just got a BFP this morning!! It's different for everyone, but we just basically laid back and said, "if it happens, it happens." I didn't chart or temp, or anything. We just prayed about it and did what came naturally and... Voila!
*baby dust!* Good luck and God bless!
I was on vacation and didn't have a new pill pack with me, so I couldn't start a new pack after taking all the placebo pills. I was off birth control for a month, but was going to go back on it after my next period. I can't now because I am almost 5 weeks pregnant.
So, the first month I was off it I got pregnant...
I had been on the pill for 17 years!! I was freaked out by how my body would respond when I stopped. Anyhow - 3 months later....pregnant!! The body is an amazing thing!! I honestly cannot believe it happened so quickly - but my boyfriend and I are super excited!!
