We had a growth sono earlier this week and he's measuring 8lbs 20.5 inches. The doctors moved my dd from 8.6 to 8.3 making me 38wks next Wednesday and they're going to induce before he can get too much bigger. Anyone here has same experience? Just hoping he's really as big as they say and praying he doesn't have to spend anytime in the nicu from being taken at 38wks. TIA ladies thanks.
Re: Question from a 3rd tri - Anyone induced at 38wks on the dot due to big baby?
My lo was estimated 8lbs 7oz at 37 weeks. If they would have reccomended an induction personally I would have refused. My water broke naturally on his due date and he was born 7lbs 15oz. Those estimates can be way off, -2/+2 in either direction.
Hmmm, measuring ahead or with a big baby doesn't change your EDD. I'm confused as to why your doctor would do that. Just because they're big, doesn't mean they're more developed (lungs, etc.)...
Anyway...
DS was born at 38w exactly. I was induced due to pre-e, but he was measuring 7lbs 2oz at 34 weeks. The induction went very well... I was in labor for 7 hours from Pitocin to birth (including 30 minutes of pushing.)
DS was 9lbs 5oz and 21.5in at 38w0d.
Although I've delivered two 9+ pound babies early (38w0d & 39w1d) I'd never choose to induce due to their size.

Thanks Jenni,
She moved my dd because the entire time I've been measuring ahead. Not sure why she waited till now, after growth sono, or what, but she did. I'm just concered he's not going to be that big and might not be ready and I really dont want him to spend anytime in nicu if at all possible.
Yeah, DD was measuring 5 weeks ahead and ended up being smaller than DS and was born a week later then him. You just never know!
No matter what, best of luck to you!
