Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Thinking of putting highchair away

is it to early? DD like to sit in her booster seat at the table. I just pit food on table since she is not ready for bowl, plate she dumps food out.

Re: Thinking of putting highchair away

  • That's when we ditched ours. She sits at a Toddler table, just like they do at daycare, and we have a booster for going out.

  • We have a space saver highchair where you can turn into more into a booster- which we did.  But we still use the tray.

DS needs to be contained when he eats!!

  • DS stopped using his high chair months ago. He would start bawling the minute I even put him near it! We have a toddler chair that we pull up to the table and just let him eat off of that (he dumps over bowls/plates like your DD).

  • DD's been in a booster since 13 months. She likes sitting with us.  We bought one of those placemat things that hangs over the table.

  • We put ours away just after her first birthday too.  She loves sitting in her booster at the table with us.

  • Well, I'm partial to the highchair, so DS will be staying in the high chair much longer.  What I like about the chair:

    1.  Wheels!  I love that I can make him breakfast, put him in the highchair, then "choo choo" him into my bedroom where he watches Elmo while he eats breakfast and I finish my hair and makeup.  I also like to wheel him to the bar when I'm eating at the bar or wheel him to the table when we're dining at the table.

    2.  The tray cover!  Oh the messes he makes.  I love being able to just pop the cover off the tray and wash it in the sink.

    3.  The splat mat.  But, I guess I could spread the splat mat under him in a real chair at the table, so that's irrelevant.

    4.  Finally, DS actually likes sitting in his high chair.

  • I want to, but I'm waiting until we get our new dining room table (we just bought a house, we don't have a large table right now).  He doesn't mind it at all, but I want something that takes up less space.
