Convertible Car Seat Recs

Hi ladies, so I need to get LO into a convertible car seat. She is getting so big and looks more and more uncomfortable in her infant carrier. So....recommendations? I know Britax is supposed to be the best, but is a bit spendy. I would like to try to stay under $120. Suggestions? TIA!

Re: Convertible Car Seat Recs

  • I got an Evenflo Triumph LX  https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4133855

and LOVE IT.  It fits fine in my car and DH's (he has a TINY Bmw), it was super easy to install and the shoulder harness adjustment is a breeze!  I'm happy to let you try it out if you don't want to go to BRU to try it!

Oh and I only ended up paying $96 for mine as it was on sale and then I got to use a 20% off coupon!

  • Ditto the Evenflo Triumph Advance. I have that in my car for DD and it's a great seat.
  • I have a Graco myRide 65 and LOVE it.  I compared the Evenflo and the Graco side by side, played with both, buckled DD into both, and just liked the Graco more.  I've been using it for ~8 months now, and have no complaints at all.

  • I considered the Graco, but HATED having to thread the straps through those stupid holes.  The Evenflo you don't have to thread the straps ever!

I too use this seat.  It has great safety recs and the price was right so I went with it.  I got it off Amazon for cheap.  It is super easy to snap her in and out, with no need to adjust the straps every time.  It has this wheel locking design that is surprisingly easy to use.

  • We have the Evenflo Triumph DX and have been using it for about two months. It's a really high quality seat, especially for the price, and DD is super comfy in it. The one thing that I really hate about it is the knob to tighten and loosen the straps. When you tighten, it makes this horrible spring-loaded noise that sounds like a medevil torture device, and to loosen the straps you have to simultaneously hold down a little tab on the knob and either yank on the straps super hard or twist the knob backwards, neither of which I find easy to do. We didn't even shop around; we just go it because it was consumer reports' recommendation. It's a good seat, but when we buy our next one (we still have the infant base in one car) we are going to look around some more. That said, we may end up with another Triumph!
