DD falls asleep while BFing

Anyone else have a LO who falls asleep while eating?  DD is only 2 weeks old but she'll often only nurse for 10-15 mins. before falling asleep, especially at night.  Then she'll wake up hungry again, sometimes within the hour.  Anyone have a good solution to keep her awake?  We've also tried bottle feeding with expressed breast milk but she hasn't really taken to the bottle yet.

    Play w/ her arms, rub her chin, unlatch her and relatch (I know it hurts), some people use a cold washcloth.  I don't do any of this overnight though; however, I try to stay awake for at least 15 minutes or more to make sure he nurses somewhat b/f falling asleep.  HTH!

    A cold damp washcloth to the face works well when LO starts falling asleep while nursing.

    If your DD is gaining weight well and not losing you shouldn't worry. Some babies are more efficient at nursing and can do it faster. Plus there are chemicals in BM that make them sleepy (like in turkey) so it's natural for them to get sleepy especially at night. If you are worried about weight gain you could try the tips the pp said.

    I had the same problem. I just keep pestering him. :-D When I switch sides I make sure that he gets good and awake by burping him and checking his diaper. Also make sure that they arn't too warm, I noticed if DS is swaddled at night he falls asleep faster while eating then if I unwrap him and feed him skin to skin.

    I agree with PP. Also, my cousin, who's a lactation consultant, said to stroke the baby's cheek. You can also undo her blanket or onsie to get a little bit of air on her. Sometimes that helps wake them up a bit.

    Burping or switching sides seems to work with my babe...At least it buys me another 30-90 minutes of sleep once he passes out again :)

     Every time he starts dozing off in the middle of a feeding at night time, I'll get him to release me and sit him up for a burping.  Once the gas is released he's back to being awake and hungry for more...Unless he's really full..If that's the case, he'll just make little chirping noises at me and fall asleep mid-burping.
