~* Expecting A Sibling Weekly Check-in*~

Welcome, ladies, to the Expecting a Sibling Weekly Check-In! I will try to post this check-in each Friday around 10:00am-12p EST, so be looking for it! I'll also try to repost this around Saturday-Sunday so that others can add to our thread. If you'd like you can also put the date of your next checkup or u/s and I'll add next to your name so that we can send good thoughts your way on that particular day.

Below is the list of ladies who have joined us, 70 so far! If you would like to be added to our list, please leave your Bump Name, your real name (if you choose to share), and what number child this will add to your family. Newbies are always welcome, as well as proud step parents & those adopting!

For those who are newbies please read the post New to January Moms or The Bump? (thank you to mchupie!). It will help answer so many questions, and you can also grab the January Joy button code from that post. There is also a bump glossary located here. And an unofficial glossary located here. The unofficial glossary contains a lot more bump lingo.

Also cdobry01 has setup a January Joy Mamas blog!

If you have a labor buddy let me know so I can make a note on our check-ins! It's okay to have multiple buddies too.

Update on our ladies:

If you plan on staying team green/yellow/red etc.(because we all know there is more than one neutral color), let us know so we can mark you as such.

If you have any other thoughts/ideas/questions on our check-in please feel free to PM me!

General QOTD: How have you felt this week?

Re: ~* Expecting A Sibling Weekly Check-in*~

  • General QOTD: How have you felt this week? - With getting teeth pulled not too great.

QOTD: What is the one challenge are you concerned about either during this pregnancy or after this baby arrives? - Mainly hoping DS will take well to the new baby and not feel too left out.

  • Challenge - How the heck am I going to handle TWINS with a TODDLER!! Just the sheer logistics of it all. DD now has afternoon activities with soccer and gymnastics, so I am going to be totting these twins off with her activities. How am I going to handle 3 different schedules with the kids when they are all doing gymnastics, soccer, baseball, music class, etc.

My other biggest challenge is going to be sleep. We value sleep in our household, so I want to make sure the twins realize this when they are born. We take family naps together every weekend and I want to continue this tradition. I just hope they are on board.

I'm feeling pretty good this week. I'm feeling them move more and more which is neat to experience. I just can't tell them apart yet. Ha!

    Abby & Emily: 12/31/10 6lbs. 2oz. & 5lbs. 7oz.
  •  Please add me! My name is Brittany, I am due January 24th, we are team green, and I have three stepkids but this is my first biological baby.

General QOTD: How have you felt this week?

Extremely emotional, which I'm sure is affecting me physically. I am finally getting over a three day long raging headache and terrible nausea, and I'm hoping the morning sickness will ease up soon! Also, my bump seems to be getting smaller? Maybe I'm still losing weight? That's a little concerning.

QOTD: What is the one challenge are you concerned about either during this pregnancy or after this baby arrives?

How my stepkids will react to a younger sibling in the house, and more importantly how will they react when they realize I'm always going to be related to them because of the baby. (Not that DH and I plan on ever being apart)

  • General QOTD: How have you felt this week?

Not bad. DS is going through a fussy stage at night (think his teeth might just be breaking through finally) so not much sleep. However, I feel pretty normal. Felt some fluttering which has been really exciting. Smile

QOTD: What is the one challenge are you concerned about either during this pregnancy or after this baby arrives?

Handling a newborn, a 12.5 month old, and recovering from a c-section without DH around much. My DH will only be able to take a few days off from work this time where with the last baby he took 2 weeks.

  • Please add me! I'm Due on the 21st and my DS is 4.

General QOTD: How have you felt this week?

Not good.I've had a splitting headache for a few days and nothing will make it go away. Sad

QOTD: What is the one challenge are you concerned about either during this pregnancy or after this baby arrives?

I'm worried about getting all of our renovations done in our house (and believe me there are lots) so we can sell sometime next year.

  • General QOTD: How have you felt this week?

Really good.  No real m/s to speak of, just some intense hunger.  DH refused to talk to me last night till I had a few bites of dinner.  DD is napping really well so it gives me a good break in the afternoon.

QOTD: What is the one challenge are you concerned about either during this pregnancy or after this baby arrives?

Just juggling two kids, two schedules, the house, work, etc.  I'm just now getting some freelance contracts and I want to keep up with the work Dec.-March.  Lots and lots of house projects in the works with a Dec deadline now.

  • General QOTD: How have you felt this week?

Not too bad up until this morning, I think I may have a UTI now, ugh

QOTD: What is the one challenge are you concerned about either during this pregnancy or after this baby arrives?

I'm having a hard time keeping ds from jumping and climbing on my belly, which is quite uncomfortable. And of course I'm concerned about what it's going to be like taking care of ds and the new baby at the same time because ds is very clingy.

  • General QOTD: How have you felt this week? Starting to efel better, I have had more energy. My morning sickness is going to night sickness though!

QOTD: What is the one challenge are you concerned about either during this pregnancy or after this baby arrives? Managing everything! <y older ones are pretty self sufficent but with them, work, sports, DD Girl Scout troop that I run and all. Sigh.

  • Can you please add me Big Smile lfaff1001, Lesley. Due Jan 1st but have a scheduled C-section Dec 28th and this will be baby #3.

General QOTD: How have you felt this week? I am feeling ok. I have just come down with a cold that DH and oldest DD had. The m/s is gone though and that makes me happy..

QOTD: What is the one challenge are you concerned about either during this pregnancy or after this baby arrives? I am starting to fear everything about having 3 kiddos but I think what I am afraid of the most is finding quality time with all 3 of them!

  • Update: Our NT scan went great! Our big u/s is scheduled for August 18th!

General: I've been feeling "yucky" - nothing sounds appetizing, but at least most of the morning sickness has subsided.

QOTD: I'm most worried about being able to balance time with both, teaching, and time with my husband. I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried about the sleep deprivation this time around too.

  • I, like others, have been plagued with HORRIBLE headaches that do.not.go.away.  :(

I'm not as concerned this time with the adjustment because I was so pleasantly surprised with the transition from one child to two, that I guess I just figure it'll all work out somehow again.  My concern, and that's not really even the right word, right now is preparing mentally, emotionally, and physically for natural childbirth.  I had an epi with DS#1 and I chose to go naturally with DS#2 but I wished I'd prepared for it a little better, so that's my goal this time.

  • p.s. I just realized I am listed twice under my EDD (Jan. 7th) but rest assured there is just one Bountifulbride, though it would be handy to have a clone sometimes :P

  • I haven't posted to this in awhile.  I got a new EDD - it's 1/23.  We're also Team Green.  My next appointment is my 16 wk check up on August 9th, where I have to take the 1 hr GD test - ugh.

General QOTD: How have you felt this week?  Except for Tuesday, I've felt pretty good.  Tuesday was an awful day - I was sick twice and just was out of it all day.  I realized that i had too much tomato (pizza and a bisque), and I paid for it.  DH was out of town, too, so it was just me and DD, which made it harder.

QOTD: What is the one challenge are you concerned about either during this pregnancy or after this baby arrives?  DH travels a lot for work, so I'm concerned about being able to take care of DD (baths, etc) as I get bigger, and he's not here.  And I'm wondering how I'll handle being home alone for days at a time with a newborn and a toddler.   I don't have family near by, but thankfully I have some really good friends I know I'll be able to count on.  Taking care of 1 is so much work alone at times, I can't imagine taking care of 2 yet.
