BP is still pretty high.

I had went to the dr on Monday and they did a bp check and mine was 179/86. Dr wanted me to come back today just for a bp check. It was still pretty high up there 189/89. He gave me a choice to go to the hospital and sit on the monitors for a couple hours or come home and take it easy and if I feel at all funny to call him, if not come back in a week (next friday) and if my bp is still high like that then he WANTS me to go get checked out. I picked choice #2. I didnt have a babysitter to go to the hospital today... I feel like thats a dumb reason not to go but he didnt seem to concerned about it yet.

  • That top number is pretty high. They made me go to the hospital at 160/90, I think. Definitley take it easy and listen to your body:)

  • I'm kind of surprised he let you go home with bp that high.  I've been sent to the hospital with pressures much lower than that.  You pressure didn't even go down during the week.  That top number went up by 10 points, which is kind of a lot.  It it's trending up, who knows what it'll be by next Friday.  Did they take a urine sample to make sure there's no protein?  Have they done any bloodwork to make sure your kidneys and liver are doing ok.  Did they take your pressure again after you were resting or laying down to make sure your bp is coming down and isn't constantly that high?

If nothing else, consider taking your bp's at home and call them if they continue to run high or increase any.

  • Do they only check it once during the visit? Mine has been high at my last several visits. 160s/90s. However, everything else has been perfect. No swelling, blood work fine, urine fine and baby is fine. They usually have me lay on my left side for a few minutes while I am there and then check again and it is down to 120s/70s or 80s. Basically they say that "bedrest" agrees with me and so to rest as much as possible when I am home.
