Help: My 3 week old stopped sleeping!

I'm not sure what to do - he's slept a total of 2-3 hours in the past 14.  Until today, he's been sleeping for 16+ hrs a day.   I can tell he's exhausted but nothing will get him to sleep - including 4 hours of straight nursing.  Any ideas?  Should I call the pedi?  He doesn't seem feverish - but I'm not sure what to do.

fwiw - he's not bawling, just fussy and has been for hours.

    Have you tried wearing him?  The movement of you walking around and being close to your heart might soothe him to sleep.  The swing also works well when DD doesn't want to sleep.  Or maybe a warm bath will relax him enough to fall asleep. 

    Hope he goes down soon for you, I'm sure you could use a break!

    I am glad you posted this. We are experiencing the same thing with our 3 week old. Yesterday he was up from 1:30- 3:30 am and then from 4:30 am- 12:30 pm. He has been a little fussy here and there. All I can say is hang in there and hopefully it will work itself out. If this happens again, I am going to call the pedi. It makes me feel better that we aren't the only ones!

    Thanks - he finally went down at 12:30 for 3 hours.  We just got up again to nurse.  Whew.
