I got the paragard IUD placed last month, and I'm on my second period since having it (and I'm EBFing..how unfair!!). I knew it could make my cycle heavier, and it sure has, so I'm needing something instead of pads/tampons. I think I'll go broke using them, lol. I've heard good things about the diva cup, but I'd like to hear more so I'm not afraid to try something new. Any other suggestions are welcome too! Thanks!
Re: Okay ladies, convince me to get a diva cup (or something)
I totally didn't think the diva cup was for me, but LOVE it! Yes, it did take a little bit to get used to putting it in, but honestly - I don't have to make sure I have tampons with me when I go places, no worries about leaks, don't have to change it when I'm out (I change it 2 - 3 times a day) can wear it to bed without any issue, I don't feel it at all.
I could go on, but it'd get significantly grosser - but still in favor of the Diva Cup!!! I strongly recommend it. I wish I had been braver and started it earlier.
this exactly ... the diva cup rocks but yes, it does take some getting use to but once you've figured it out, it's AWESOME!

I think the thing for me is it was just hard to get it in to the point where I could get it turned up there and therefore creating that contact to keep any leaks from happening. There was once or twice that it was a bit uncomfortable, so I had to try it again. I can't say I ever had it fall out, but I could possibly see that happen if you didn't have it far enough in when you put it in (not that you generally need to hoist it up there - as long as the stem is only just coming out, it should be in enough, or that's the case for me). Mine will ride up a bit (perhaps I have a higher cervix?) and sometimes I do have to bear down to get it out again, but no biggie. I'd give it another try - are you sure you have the larger size (us 'have birthed a baby' size)? Otherwise, there are other menstrual cups that are slightly differently shaped that may work better for you. There's a website that compares - I can't say I know what it is, though.
Ditto what she said. I just got one and after using it, I have to say it like it. Getting it inserted and turned is the trickiest part for me but now I've got a method figured out and it's no biggie.
