Sears portait studio, have you ever used them?

If so, how were they?  I used picture peolpe once and it was a college kid with same basic knowledge of a camera.  The pictures came out cute but I would like a professional photographer.  Their prices were also a little steep even with promotional sales.  For DS birth announcements we used a professional child photographer and the pictures were beautiful and artistic, we go back evey four months until he is one year for photos but their prices are downright ridiculous.  $50.00 for a 5x7.  We do it because we get a free 5x7 each time until he is one but we won't be abl to afford it afterwards.  I just wanted to take some nice pics of him in his halloween costume and was considering using Sears.  Just wondering how anyones experience was with them or JC penny?  TIA, sorry so long winded. I posted this question on 6+ months so sorry if you see it twice.

Re: Sears portait studio, have you ever used them?

  • We just took DD to Sears. She wasn't very cooperative and they had us come back for a second sitting. Still, she honestly just wouldn't stop crying so it was hard to get many pictures. I found the photographer to be patient and nice ,and I appreciated that they had us come back another day when DD clearly wasn't happy the first time we went. BUT, I certainly don't think the photographer was any kind of a professional. For that, you pay. We just can't spend $150 just for a sitting with a pro, so we opted for Sears. In the end, I'm satisfied with it.
