vent (sorry!)

So after spending Friday night in the ER, I ended up being admitted to the hospital on Monday. I was there until Wednesday afternoon. I'm taking two classes this session this summer. One of my professors I work with in a psychology lab, he's a grad student, and has been helping me keep up with class. My other professor is trying to give me 0s for the two quizzes I missed AND dock me points because I missed class! I emailed him Monday night letting him know what was going on, and told him I would furnish the hospital papers and a note from my OB... what do I do if he doesn't change my grade back? It's not like I had a choice being admitted, I had a kidney infection! Ugh I'm so irritated.

  • I would take it up with the program director or dean. These are excused absences.

This. Or if there's a grade appeals group or something of that sort.  This certainly qualifies as excused absence.

  • it seriously just frustrates me because he said excused absences were if there was a death in the family, hospitalization, or for University sponsored events. I just really want my A that I'm working so hard for!

Sounds like it falls within his "excused absences" list.  As long as you have documentation of your hospitalization and documentation of his policy, he has to excuse you.  If not, take said documentation above his head.  Seems pretty cut and dried to me.

I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...
