Mine are all under 4 but I have started researching private and public schools. The cost of private is prohibitive but the public schools here arent the best. Anyone successfully homeschooling, if so what resources do you use?
check with your state's department of ed for more info
keep in mind when test scores are realesed from specific schools it is usually scored from one test given on one day......teachers use a variety of ways to assess their students but the state only uses one way.
If you are interested you can email me. I helped the woman I nannied for when she was researching homeschooling and now she is sucessfully homeschooling her 9 year old, 7 year old, and 5 year old. She has been doing it since the oldest was 4. If you are interested I can get you the information you need just email me at jenniferlcook @ gmail dot com
No way. I am a teacher and I heart school!!! I've taught in an inner city not the best public school before too and I would rather my baby go there than stay at home with me. I think the best way for parents to ensure their kids are getting a good education is to stay very involved with the school. Get to know the teachers and volunteer. Your children will see how much you value education and they will learn to value it too.

Oh for the love of all that is poop.
STFU Teachers. I get that you believe in public school but who is in charge of a childs education? Their parents. So get off your high horse and stop being worried about the money the school district loses when someone homeschools. There are over 3 million homeschoolers in America. Seriously. Get over yourself.
My word of advice is also check with the homeschoolers legal foundation. They can break the law down for you and also keep your private business out of the school district.
This will help you figure out the laws in your area. Read over it carefully because getting involved with the school district is very invasive and you might want to avoid it. It's all up to you.
I live in Fl not RI. I am a definate public school advocate however I do want to do what is best for my kids and the oldest is almost 4 and already knows how to write all the letters of the alphabet spell her name, knows her phone number tells time by the hour and various other undertakings at her own urging/wanting. I dont know if she will get challenged in the local schools. My middle child is the opposite. She is two and has no interest in even learning colors the alphabet etc, I wonder if she will get the attention she needs. I appreciate all of your replies and I understand the school is very important for socialization as well and if we go with public school I will definately be an involved parent ( and i wont expect the school to be the disciplinarians, i will be.
Homeschooling is absolutely not for everone. One child could thrive in it, the other could not. It really depends. I hope you are able to make a decision. Check out those links. Also check out https://www.hoagiesgifted.org/
It might actually give you a little insight into your children.
