Babies on the Brain

Does anyone use diaper pails anymore?

We had a Diaper Champ for Henry and really liked it.  In fact, we just threw it out last week because it just can't handle two-y.o. poop.  (I mean the poop is from a two-y.o., not that the poop is two years old).

I have heard that the new Diaper Champs SUCK so I was wondering what everyone else uses?  I'd prefer not to have to buy special bags.

  • I have the Diaper Genie Elite and love it.  Our other trash can cannot contain the smells

  • I love our Diaper Champ, but I don't know if its the old or the new.  Sounds like the new one takes special bags?  If so, then we have the old.

  • We have the Diaper Dekor.  I love it and the 1 refill lasts over a month.  Refills come 2 in a box for $15.99.  I buy 2 boxes at a time and they last for ever.

  • We've got the Diaper Genie Elite also, you do have to use their special bags, but one roll costs about $6 and lasts probably 2-3 weeks. It contains smell really good, the only time it starts to smell is when it's getting full and only when you actually open it up to put a diaper in there and the smell escapes. We've been happy with it, it's easy to use.
  • We used the Diaper Genie II Elite.  Yes, you have to buy the bags, but it's the only one I've found that actually contains the smell.  You could leave diapers in there for weeks and not smell them at.all. unless you opened it.  Don't ask how I know that.  We only recently stopped using it.
  • I've got the Diaper Genie II Elite as well and have been really happy with it. DH thinks it's a gift from god, lol
  • We just bought a trash can that has a lid that snaps closed. You push the lid and it pops up, you push it down and it snaps closed. We use the odor control bags and have a baking soda disk in the top (I think munchkin makes them) and her room has never smelled like a diaper. I didn't want the hassle of buying separate bags.
  • We got the Arm & Hammer Diaper pail.  I can't tell you yet if it works or not though.

We have it as well and love it!  No smell, ever.  To save money on bags, we only throw poopy diapers in the Genie.  The $6 roll lasts a couple of months, at least.
