I have been doing the 3DPT with my daughter who is 22 months old. We are at the end of Day 3 and I feel very discouraged because we have yet to make it to the potty before she goes completely in her pants. Today, she was at the point that she would tell me "pee pee, pee pee" but it was not soon enough and she would say it and then immediately start peeing. She also peed in her bed last night and yesterday and today right as she woke up from her nap. I don't think it is really clicking with her. Any other moms have this same experience? Did your child end up getting it the next day or two or did you just give up and try again later because you thought they weren't ready. I really thought my daughter was ready but now I am really questioning myself.
Re: Discouraged :-/ D|
she might not be ready, and the 3 day method doesn't work with all kids. DD does best without anything on (complete naked time) in any kind of pants, pull ups or panties she immediately pees without thinking about it.
i'm working on DD peeing in the daytime then we'll work on poop and over night.
I tried the 3dpt on my twin girls at 22 months and it was a fail. I really thought they were ready because they showed all the classic signs of being ready. On the 3rd day, one was starting to get it, but she was still having like 10 accidents a day and not initiating going to the potty at all, I had to put her on when she was already going.
So I decided to give them a break from it and try again in a couple of months. I am going to try again at the end of the summer when they are almost 26 months old and see if it goes better. Right now I put their pottys in the bathroom when it is bath time and they both will actually go on the pottys on their own without me prompting, so that is a move in the right direction.
Sometimes even though they are showing signs of readiness at 22-26 months old they are just not ready for a couple of more months. If she is not getting it at all, I would put her back in diapers or pull ups and try again later in like 2-3 months and see how she does then. 2-3 months more maturity is a lot for a young almost 2 year old.
we're in the same boat...and she's showing a lot of readiness signs..and loves to sit on the potty.
That it is, until we started potty training. She'll happily sit on the potty, but she cries if she actually has to go. And then she'll go...and be so happy and proud of herself.
I've been doing a variation of the 3DPT. We're constantly reminding her, but I also have set a timer and made her sit every 15 minutes. It worked for my sister with my nephew...but I still haven't been able to extend the timer.
I have a feeling this week spent PT is going to be a huge waste of my time.
