Anybody think Lanolin is NOT working?!?!

I've been using it since day 1. My nipples still get dry and then they hurt when they touch the breast pads. Any body else? WDYD to help them?

  • Do you mean lanolin?

  • I'm assuming you mean the cream....if it hurts to have your bra/pads touch your nips, try nipple shells.  I used them and they were great.  It gives you Madonna boobs, but hey, relief is relief

  • Try putting breastmilk on them and letting it air dry.  DS refused to nurse using the lanolin, so I did breastmilk instead and it worked really well.

Same here.  DD wouldn't latch when I used it either.  The air drying seemed to help the most.

  • I use Earth Mama Angel Baby Nipple Butter...so much better than lansinoh, imo. less sticky and heals better

  • I was using the Lansinoh brand for a few days and then switched to the medela brand which I like better because it isn't thick, just smooth and creamy and doesn't stick to my nursing pad. My nipples are still sore, but not as bad.

  • My lactation consultant said to ditch the lanolin and just use vasoline...it does not stain and feels just as good.  if you have too much on, just wipe off before feeding

  • Lanolin did not work for me.  I agree w/pp that said use breast mil and let it air dry.  This def. helped me more.  Also, if you are able to pump and give LO a bottle feed, that helps too.
