i've gone back and forth on whether there's such a thing as holding/cuddling too much with your newborn. nurses at the hospital say it's good to have a lot of skin to skin contact....i just don't want to make our baby one of those that can't/won't go to sleep unless she's in your arms all the time.

A newborn doesn't have the mental capacity to understand spoiling.
The nurses are right. It's called the 4th Trimester. Your baby needs to adjust to life outside the womb. They don't really realize that they are seperate from you yet. Get a sling or wrap to help free up your hands while you get some bonding time.
Bloggin' It
Not possible. It's just not possible.
And, from what I've read from other moms on this board, there are some babies that do need to be held all the time. It seems that just happens sometimes and it doesn't seem like those moms did anything to cause it.
For the first couple of weeks, Lily fell asleep on me, and anytime I tried to put her down, she woke up 10 minutes later. So I held her while she slept. At first it frustrated me. Then I thought, so what if I lay here and hold my baby all day? In the big picture, this is such a short period of time. And after the first couple of weeks, she would sleep longer when I put her down, but I just didn't want to.
Now, here I am, back at work missing my little girl. But I'm glad that I can look back at those 10 weeks and maybe I didn't get much done, but I held my baby as often and as long as I could. KWIM?
My silly Lily is almost 4.
