Lego-type blocks

DS is 18 mos and is in a connecting/disconnecting things stage. He likes stacking with his wooden blocks and I was thinking of looking for a building set, but I'm not sure what kind is best at this age. Is he ready for Duplos yet (Amazon lists them as 18 mos-5 yrs) or would something like MegaBloks (which if I remember, require less effort to snap together) be better to start with?

    My 17 month really gets a lot of good use out of her Megbloks and well my husband does too:) They are easy for her to connect together and take apart.

    Sammie got some Mega Blocks for her birthday and immediately loved tearing down anything we built but has recently started building and taking them apart herself. She loves them now.
