Re: PG-Mom-TTC check in

  • Any news or updates?

I'm still pregnant and hoping to greet our LO soon.  As I said yesterday, I have cramping every day and I'm hoping that means that labor will be starting someday soon, but I'm not counting on it.  My next OB appt isn't until Thursday this week and I'm anxious to see what the doc says.  He hasn't mentioned anything to me at this point regarding me going past my EDD, but I think he'll have to this week since I'll hit the 40 week mark next Tuesday, so if I have to schedule an u/s or NST, I'll have to know now.

What is one luxury item that hope to provide for your family?

I hope that we can take a family vacation every year.  Vacations have become a significant part of me and Bri's relationship and I would like to share that with our children.

  • Any news or updates? We had our first appointment last week.  It went well and we got to see the bambino which was amazing! They gave us a huge packet of information so we have just been working our way thru that.  I still feel pretty good, just getting a little more tired at night.  My boobs have gotten huge in the last week so I am on the hunt for some new inexpensive bras.  And our NT scan is scheduled for the end of the month.

What is one luxury item that hope to provide for your family?  I agree with Natalee- I would love to take our children on vacations.  I never really went anywhere with my family, other than the shore, so I would really like our children to experience other places.

Good luck to all the ladies that are due in the next few days/weeks and those TTC!

  • Natalee- Can you change my due date is February 10th? Thanks!
  • Update:  Ian is growing like mad.  He is 10 weeks old today and the time has flown by.  I am so happy that I quit working full time to be with him and enjoy every minute.  Now to just to plan his baptism next month!

QOTD:  I agree with both of you.  We want to provide trips every year and let him experience the world from an early age.  And that's the one area we're scrimping on until my practice gets going again and bringing in the money.  :(

  • Any news or updates?

I had my Dr's appt yesterday and they did my GBS test and my first internal.  I was so dreading my internal and it hurt so freakin bad!  He says that I'm dialated about a fingertip.  She is head down, but according to the Dr she has her head sitting on my bladder.  Which makes complete sense because I have to pee all the time now!  I've been pretty crampy every single day lately and was up having contractions for about 5 hours night before last (but they weren't strong at all and not regular either.  Just enough to annoy me and keep me up).

I've realized that I'm bigger than I ever was when I was pregnant with Rowen.  Almost none of my maternity clothes even fit me anymore.  My dad was making fun of my yesterday because my shirt wasn't quite long enough anymore.

What is one luxury item that hope to provide for your family?

I also have to agree with Natalee here.  We took 2 vacations when I was growing up and they really stand out to me.  Rowen has flown more than most adults I know and been to the beach at least once a year.  I love getting to show him new things..  I would love to be able to continue that.

  • News/updates: I bought my plane ticket home! Yippee! 3 weeks from Wed. I'll be back in the land of starbucks, target, and best of all, good medical care and my big support system of family/friends. Although DH and I are super sad to be apart, we both know it is for the best. He'll get to visit every few weeks PLUS he'll come home for every appointment. yay!

QOTW: Hmmm. I also think traveling is something we want to do with our kids. There are so many more places we want to see both in the states and internationally, so we plan to just bring the kids along. DH said last week that he was secretly excited to have an excuse to go to Disney and Epcot. He never got to go as a kid. we are going to be that dorky family with matching mouse ears. Stick out tongue

  • K is smiling and giggling like crazy.  She is really starting to love toys, besides just look at them.  So that's been fun.  She loves to be worn but it hurts my back and annoys me while I am doing housework, so that's kind of a bummer.

QOTD - Vacations.  At least two per year.  And Disney often.  I want her to stay in the Disney hotel at least once.

  • Still cooking Baby G.  DH is convinced that she is coming tomorrow, and is trying to wrap everything up at work today.  I'm not sure why he feels so strongly about it, but I hope he's right!  Still having lots of BHC in addition to my bouts of false labor.  I hope all of these contractions are working on thinning my cervix.  Hopefully when the time comes, this baby will just fall right out. :)  I go back to the dr on Friday, so we'll see if anything has changed.

I agree with everyone else--DH & I LOVE to travel, & I want to share that with our LOs.

  • Any news or updates?

Just got back from my weekly appointment and had negative GBS result. YIPPEE! This past Saturday was our final baby shower and a couple crafty girlfriends visited me from Boston (see post on our blog - link below), and I'm continuing to work on getting things organized, making exchanges and doing baby's laundry (DH's now officially addicted to Dreft: he rubs it on his skin to sniff it and wants to use it for his clothes; today he asked, "Can I please just take some out of the bottle and keep it separately for me?").

Dr. says everything is pacing normally. I finally gained 2 lbs (I hadn't gained since May) and next Tuesday is my final u/s. My 22 year old sister arrived last Monday from Virginia and has been helping immensely around the apartment (she started her PR job here in NYC last week and is looking for an apartment). DH and I finally go to our first of three labor classes tonight (I was reluctant to sign up since I heard all that goes out the window when you're in the moment, but I couldn't resist the pressure from my mom).

I went swimming for the first time this summer last week with my sister (there's an awesome Olympic size community pool 3 blocks away), and it felt great (it was on our 100 degree day) and DH and I will go this Friday (lower 90s here). Overall, I'm just enjoying myself. I feel really comfortable and everyday has been like Christmas with more and more gifts arriving. It's a fun time, and I don't feel like "GET THIS BABY OUTTA ME!" at all.

What is one luxury item that hope to provide for your family?

Music lessons; I grew up learning to play the piano and I would love for my baby girl to learn too. I'd like to have a baby grand piano in our house.

  • New/Updates
Nothing much. Mr-S is doing great despite of the ridiculously hot weather we've been having. He's been in only a diaper for days now, but he drinks and sleeps and plays well, so that's good. He's turned to his belly 2 times, but doesn't seem to want to "exercise" anymore this week. During tummy time he just lies there and on his back he will turn from side to side, but not his belly anymore. I guess he's been developing so much lately he's now taking a well deserved break :-)

Since I forgot Mommy Monday yesterday, here's a new pic of the little man:

    image....at the Y M CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC A......

    QOTD:
The luxury item I still want my LO ('s in the future) to have is a forever home. I like the house we're living in, and I don't think we'll be moving anytime soon. But a nice detached house with big garden would be my dream! However, with our income and the current house prices I'm not sure that will ever happen.

So, for no. 2 of the luxury items I agree with PP and say travel. However, I don't want to start with "far and exotic" right away. I feel my child(ren) should first get to know their own country before venturing on international holidays. There are loads of nice spots in Holland, and I want them to really know their own country so they can really enjoy going abroad and not take holidays for granted. (With that being said, DH absolutely LOVES skiing so I don't think all our holidays will be in Holland for the next few years, the one luxury item my DH would give our kids is learning to ski...)

  • Any news or updates? Long time no check in... My computer is upstairs and it gets so hot up there that I mostly just use my phone which doesn't let me post here. Anyways, My due date is November 6th and it's a BOY!

What is one luxury item that hope to provide for your family? I really would love to have a pool one day. We have the perfect yard for one and we love swimming!

  • Any news or updates? We just got back from Florida last night (Clearwater, Anna Maria Island & Siesta Key - it was a whirlwind!) - Soph did NOT do well with all of the changes. She was pretty crabby and definitely not herself. I attempted a Cake Smash on the beach to use for her birthday invitations...It didn't go as planned :(

What is one luxury item that hope to provide for your family? Definitely family vacations, so far we haven't had to give those up yet. DH has been laid off for 8 months now, so I don't know how long that's going to last.

  • Natalee, could you please change Ian's age to 8.

Marcos is semi crawling now. He is a little stubborn boy though, he swears he's 2 and can do everything.

I really wish we could have a family vacation every year, instead we pay 800.00 a month on private school (and we have a partial scholarship). So I guess private school is our luxury.

  • So far everything is great. Had an u/s last week and got lots of pics of the bean who is growing and moving around lots - - just can't feel it yet and hope it will be sooner than later for a kick. Headaches have been really bad this week. Today is day 3 and I'm tired of the pain. Nothing seems to be helping. I told my sister in law today that I suck at being pregnant and won't be placing for any medals in this sport. ;)

I also hope we can continue to travel even if only a few hours away with the bean. I worry about cost since daycare is going to kill us. I just hope we make it work one way or another.

  • Any news or updates?

Had my check up today (30 weeks) and my blood pressure is back to NORMAL!!!!  So excited.  I also found out that I was completely misreading the information from insurance so we're not going to owe as much as I was ball parking for the L&D.

I'm heading to my home town in Kentucky tomorrow for a few days to see my Dad who hasn't seen me pregnant yet and to pick up a rocking chair my parents used with me when I was a baby.  I'll also get to see a friend of mine I grew up with which will be fun and exciting.  So I'm starting to get excited about that trip even though it's a 5 hour drive each way by myself.  I figured I needed to do it now rather than in 3 weeks when I'll have the chance to take this much time off (because of conflicts with baby classes)

What is one luxury item that hope to provide for your family?

I'm definitely on board with the vacations.  My family didn't take many family vacations when I was growing up, our first being when I turned 16.  Other than that we just did the occasional day trip.  I'm also hoping that we can work it out so that our kid(s) don't have to work much in high school, even though DH did and did fine.  I didn't have to work at that point and in some ways that was a good thing because it allowed me to be really active in clubs at school.  Both are important things to do when you're that age to learn time management and money skills so we'll see how things play out.

ETA:  Good luck to all of those TTC (Lots of baby dust) and a healthy and happy pregnancy to everyone pregnant.  Hope everyone is having a good week regardless of their condition!

  • Any news or updates?

My NT scan is tomorrow and I'm excited to get the see the babe again!  and I'm a little nervous just to be sure everything is ok.

What is one luxury item that hope to provide for your family?

I agree with vacations.  We didn't take any when I was little, until my sister and brother were old enough (I'm 6.5 and 7.5 years older than them) so I want to try to do even little vacations with the LO's if I can.  We're so close to so many states here that we can do mountains, beaches, etc.

  • I haven't checked in for a while.  I feel like there is nothing really new to report, Nathan has two teeth on the bottom that recently came in and we FINALLY have a spot at daycare.  We took him to meet the pediatrician there today and he seemed to be okay.  He still refuses to crawl but he is standing like a champ.

QOTW:  Our luxury at the moment is definitely traveling.  Nathan has visited 3 countries already in his short life and in August we will be adding a fourth.

  • Long time no check-in...but I too don't think there is much to report.  Anderson got his third tooth (all on the bottom) this week and is crawling like crazy.  It is hard to keep up with him!

He is also pulling himself up on things and walking along them.  He just learned that he can pull himself up in his crib and stand...so nap time is now a struggle.  (Sometimes I wish for those days when I could put him down in one place and know he would stay there.)

QOTD - I vote for vacations as well.  We are in a bind now that we moved into our new house and still have our old one with no renter.  It is very stressful.  So we won't be doing anything anytime soon!

  • Sooo tirreedddd... BUT we are making some promising moves in the right direction.  If we have some sleeping success I will post on that after it has worked for a few days.  And she has started fighting the bottle again Sad  We hired a new sitter and I really like her.  I think (*hope*) it will be long term and she seems to be very competent and way more mature than the last girl.  Friday was her first day and she couldn't figure out how to work the remote, so they played ALL day.

QOTW -  I have several things that I would like to provide for our child(ren).  DH does not really think vacations are a priority but I'm sure we will work some in here and there.  I really would like to send our kids to private school, since the public schools around here kinda scare me.  (Not so much elementary but definitely high school).  I also would really like to have a college fund established so that our kid(s) don't have to worry too much about how to pay for college.  Doing all of this will be tough but hopefully we can manage it!

  • News:

Can you please change Mya's age to 10?

I have my induction scheduled for tomorrow.  As of 6:23pm EST, I still don't have a scheduled time.  Fingers crossed that it starts before noon time.  However, I am really nervous about his induction because 1.  I have never had one before and 2. I will probably not have a fast delivery again.  Besides that, the bag has been repacked and is waiting by the door with the camera ready to go.  Lisa O. will update you throughout the day.  I will have my phone with me, but I can't post from it.  Please feel free to facebook, e-mail, or text.

    Luxury:

This is a great question.  I think I may have to copy everyone else and also say vacations because Mya has been very fortunate to travel with me and I would like Ava to be able to do the same thing.

  • Nothing much new here.  Morning sickness has been not so fun.  I've found that I have to eat something every 2 hours or I get sick.  No throwing up, but, the nausea is just...ugh.

I hit 10 weeks on Thursday and I'm SO EXCITED.  I'm just so happy.

As for luxury items....one is I hope to be able to stay home with my child until he or she is at least of school age.  (I view that as a luxury.)  I hope to be able to take vacations as a family and I hope that we can provide him or her with every extra curricular activity their little heart desires.  Even if it's hockey, which is supposed to be really expensive.  I never want to have to tell my child we can't afford something.  I remember that as a child and although I never faulted my parents for it or anything, I just remember that empty feeling of being told "we just don't have the money for that".

  • Update:

I think in the next few days I might need an intervention...I'm currently 5 dpo and already eyeing the HPTs and wanting to use them. I have issues Smile

    QOTW:

I'm with everyone else as well. We talk all the time about how we don't want to stop traveling once kids are here. People already think we are completely crazy for how much we travel, always saying we can't possibly afford it with our teacher salaries, but it's something we will ALWAYS make work, and we've never gone into debt over any of our trips, so we'll figure it out.

  • Nothing new to really report, G is starting to take the bottle alittle better, we changed to the Playtex drop ins and she still plays with it, but will take it eventually....

Blayne- I am so sorry B is starting to give you a problem with the bottle again...

As for a luxury....definitely traveling....DH and I love to travel and have done it for years, I can not wait to take G along with us..we are going to start next year with this!

  • News:  I think I've got Mari adjusted to Greek time - she has had a hard time with the time change and won't sleep for more than 3 hours at a time, but I think we're on a road to success!  This is why I'm not out right now.  Mari fell asleep at 830 pm Greece time and I didn't want to wake her to go out with everyone... so, I'm here being entertained by you gals and waiting for Ava to arrive!

Luxury:  This is such a hard question.  I guess it really depends on what a luxury is to each person.   My instinct says that I find it a luxury to be able to stay home with Mari... but my heart says getting a beach house for summer fun was my favorite luxury growing up and it should be what I provide for my kids too.
