We just started stage 2's (gerber) - I don't notice any difference in consistency between stage 1 and 2- is the only difference that they are now combo's?
I'm curious if I'm feeding her enough. I was just on babycenter.com but they say how much fruit/veggies to give in teaspoons and I'm done and don't know how many ounces that it. We've been giving her 1+ tablespoon of cereal plus half a container of fruit or veggie (the stage 1's, so roughly 1.25 ounces) and for dinner 1+ tablespoon of oatmeal plus half a container of fruit or veggie (the stage 1's, so roughly 1.25
ounces). I just added in lunch today on the rec of DD's pedi - and tried a stage 2 which is 3.5 ounces. She really liked it and kept opening her mouth for more. I gave her more than half of the container but was afraid to give her the whole thing, but she would have eaten it if I offered. Should I have given her the whole thing? Should we be giving her a whole container or similar to 2.5 ounces of a fruit or veggie for breakfast and dinner? Any help insight would be greatly appreciated!
Re: A couple of solids questions ...
1oz = 2T.
1T = 3teasp.
1oz = 6teasp.
(someone correct my bad math if I'm wrong)
We usually give a full jar twice per day. Sometimes he barely wants to finish it and sometimes he seems to want more. We just supplement with formula if he's still hungry.
As far as stage 1 vs stage 2, I've read that it is supposed to be thicker but it isn't and some even appear thinner. I think it's just larger jars and some combos instead of single fruits/vegs. But really, I don't know.
So I just talked with my pedi re: DS still be hungry after 2tbsp cereal and 1 jar Stage 2 and she said to up his cereal to 4-5tbsp and stay with the one jar. If that's not enough, add a third "meal" of solids. I guess we'll see. We're also starting Mum Mum's and she said we can try Puffs and Cheerios, too.
Maybe try upping her cereal to 2tbsp and cereal to a full jar and see if that helps. We've been doing 2tbsp since he was 5m and a full jar since 6m.
Thanks! Maybe we'll try that. I want to start finger foods with her, and I think she's ready, but when I asked her pedi, he said 8-9 months.
