Ughh I'm so annoyed!! So I'm being induced on Tuesday. DH is trying to get his paperwork in order to be here for the birth. His command requested a Red Cross letter. So I call the doc office, they need the fax number. So I call the Red Cross. The guy I talk to, says that they will not send a message for an induction because it is not considered an emergency and since it's scheduled for Tuesday, his command has enough time to grant him leave. Command says they will not process the paperwork without the info from the Red Cross. So I tell this to DH, so DH calls the Red Cross, gets a completely different answer, that they will send the message and to have my doc office call them. So now we're waiting to hear back from my doc office.
I don't understand the difference in answers! I'm just frustrated, and tired and hot and sick of being pregnant!! I don't need this annoyance right now!!
Re: Red Cross Vent!
UGHHH!!! So the Red Cross won't send the letter, it was denied. What a pain this is. I've been so sick of being pregnant these last few weeks and I was hoping she would come early, and the one good thing about being overdue and being induced was that he could be here for it and now I'm not sure that is going to happen. I kept telling myself the good thing about an induction would be that he would be here for it, and now it's looking like that isn't true. He is going to talk to someone in his command tomorrow to see if there is anything else he can do, like take regular leave and then start paternity once he is here, but I'm not sure he is eligible to do that because he is in A School.
Ok I just needed to vent and he doesn't need to hear my frustration right now, so thanks!
I know this sucks and you really want your H to be there with you. However, the Red Cross does everything by priority. Even if they did decide to send out your letter, it isn't an emergency. Because it isn't an emergency, it would go to the bottom of the list. When they get more emergencies, those would still go out before yours. There is a good chance your H's command wouldn't even get the letter until after your induction.
I don't even really know why his command is asking for the letter. All they have to say is yes or no.
ETA: I really do hope they figure something out and send him back for you, though. Hang in there.
I'm so sorry. I had something similar when I had a m/c. The lady I talked to was so rude and told me that she didn't think it was a big deal! I was 13 weeks, and I had to have a d&c, but why in the world would I want my DH to be there with me? His command was great and they called the Red Cross along with my OB and got it resolved.
Hopefully it gets taken care of soon.
I agree with a PP who said that it seemed like your DH's command is the problem for requiring that letter... I know red cross and the military are pretty intertwined, but it seems like they could easily circumvent the red cross thing...
Good luck!
DH is talking to someone else at his command tomorrow. Maybe they just don't deal with this a lot or the person who was working doesn't deal with it a lot. I have my fingers crossed, but I'm not holding my breathe.
I really just wanted to vent and I feel bad always venting to DH because I don't want to make him feel bad he isn't here. And none of my friends really understand. So thanks for listening!
I know I'm lucky that he is able to take his paternity leave so soon after the birth even if he isn't necessarily at the birth.
Plus, I'm just annoyed she isn't here already!! I've been ready for weeks, I wish she were ready too!!
I know you probably dont want to hear this but Im not surprised they denied it because it isnt an emergency.
After I had DS I had to send a Red Cross message because DS was born with a life threatening defect, needed surgery and could die depending on the severity of it. I asked them if they could rush it and they said it wasn't an emergency. Well, okay assshats. It sure is. After talking to many different people and have an officer from the remain behind party come up to see how i was doing and then have him pretty much *** at the Red Cross people it finally got sent and DH received it super fast.
I hope it gets settled but the red cross should have never been involved in this to begin with.
