So I have my first interview in years and need help with a question they may ask me. I graduated last may with my AAS in Surg Tech. Well, I decided to go ahead and keep going to school because I wanted to get a nursing degree. I went all summer and the fall and then decided I wanted to go ahead and get a Surg Tech job instead of going this past spring. I got my certification and now have my first interview. If they ask me why I waited so long to get a job out of school how would you word it? I still want to eventually get my nursing degree. That would be helpful in the OR because I would be able to scrub and do the nursing side of it. How would answer this?
Sorry about the bump fart, I tried to delete one and the bump won't let me!
Re: XP: Interview help please!
Do you mean the time from your last semester of nursing school, last Fall, until now or since you graduated last May?

I actually wasn't in nursing school yet, just on the road to that goal. I'm talking about from the time I graduated from the Surg Tech school (May 09) until now. I'm thinking they might possibly ask me why I waited a yr to get a job. Does that make sense?
Totally makes sense. Sorry for my confusion. I think since you were still in school and taking classes toward entering a nursing school, that is a great reason all on it's own. I would think pursuing an education would be something they would understand. In addition, you also were in the process of getting your certification, which I thought I remembered you mentioning as something that helped you get an interview or more interviews. All very reasonable reaons, IMO. Good luck to you! I'm sure you'll do great!

It was probably poor wording on my part, lol. Ok, that is what I was thinking.
Thanks ladies!
