Anyone need to double swaddle??

My almost 4 week old son is a kicker and wiggler.  When we wrap him in a swaddle me he kicks his legs like crazy and within an hour has his arm out the top no matter how tight we velcro it.  So we started double swaddling ( a swaddle me and then swaddling in a blanket)  It works, but we are sleeping downstairs now, because it is too hot at night to have him sleep upstairs.  ANyone have a similar situation?  Any suggestions to keep him calm in just a swaddle me?.  thanks!

  • my girls hated the swaddle and would always break free.  I started using the "sleep bags" and they were great with them.

Have you tried the Woombie?  It's the only swaddle DD can't get out of!  And they make light ones for the summer, too.

i swaddle DD in a receiving blanket, and then wrap the wing part of the halo blanket around her bc it has velcro.

  • I usually double swaddle DS, but it's been too hot to do it.  He will be completely out of it by the time he wakes up.  I use really really old recieving blankets; the ones that are rectangular instead of square.  They're the only ones that work.  The new square ones are much too small to swaddle him with.  On really hot nights, I just use a sleep sack, or when I'm too tired to bother swaddling, or for DH who has no clue how to swaddle.

  • We used Halo sleepsack swaddles, and they worked great for my LO.  He didn't start busting out until he was nearly 4 months, which is the typical age to do so.  Maybe your LO is ready to be done swaddling, since he's breaking loose so much.  Try a regular Halo sleepsack instead.
