Does anyone have an successful experiences with ordering a wedding dress that's maternity? I only have about 6 weeks until the wedding and I'm not even sure how to go about ordering and knowing what will fit now and then. Any suggestions/recommendations?
I live in the Baltimore area, so if anyone knows of stores close by, please let me know. I'm think the web is best option given my short time frame.
Thanks!!
Re: Maternity Wedding Dresses??
A wedding dress for yourself? Or a dress to wear to a wedding you are invited to? I need a little clarification on this since it's unusual to order your own wedding gown 6 weeks before the big day.
If it is indeed a wedding gown for yourself, then I think your only option is to go to a store and buy something off the rack and have them alter it to fit you. Something on-line is probably not going to arrive in time and will likely not fit perfect and would need alterations anyway. Most bridal shops will allow you to buy off the rack in a pinch, but check the dress to make sure there are no stains/etc. David's Bridal has new dresses you can buy off the rack, but I wouldn't trust their seamstresses to do a maternity alteration with such quick turnaround. Plus they're pricey for alterations.
I am in a wedding (bridesmaid) when I will be 35 weeks so I did a bunch of research on maternity bridesmaid dresses.
Bari Jay makes MANY maternity bridesmaid dresses that come in white. You would have to do a rush order to have the dress in 6 weeks but they have some nice options.
If you want a more formal wedding dress I don't have any advice. 6 weeks is a really quick turnaround for any bride. Good luck!
I think it's kind of late to order a wedding dress at this point. You'll probably have to go off-the-rack. Just buy a white maternity dress and dress it up with jewelry and the veil and stuff.

Go to JcPenney! I had ordered a bridesmaid dress before knowing I was pregnant months ago & went for the alterations & found out it was gonna be another $70 in xtra fabric & then at least another $50 in alterations. I just left the dress there (lost my deposit $75 but better than putting in another $300 for a dress I'd never wear again) and went to JcPenney. They have a ton of super dressy, beautiful dresses and they're mostly all 50% off.
I know Davids Bridal you can or the website Babies n Bellies.
I am getting married in two weeks but I am wearing a purple dress with white detailing. I just didn't want to do white for myself (until we do our celebration of our wedding party next year)!
GL!

I recently got married at 5 months pregnant and I bought my dress off the rack and the alterations waived rush fees because i was pregnant. I saved about 500 dollars and they fit me in my dress about a week before.
Your best luck would be to go to a store rather than online..considering dress sizes differ so much. Call stores around and ask them..alot have dealt with it before and are willing to be more than helpful.
You can still get a beautiful dress 6 weeks out. David's Bridal has really stepped it up in terms of style and have alot of experience with pregnant brides. I am getting married this weekend @ 5 months and am wearing this dress.

Thanks everyone for the great ideas. Yes, I wasn't clear, but the dress is for me to get married in. We were going to wait until after the baby was here to get married, but last week decided we'd like to be married before our peanut arrives, hence the very short turn around time.
All of your suggestions were a great help!
