Opinions on "Calla Marie"

It would be pronounced Cal-lah.

1) General opinions?

2) Do you think it will be misspelled or misprounced a lot? Is that how you assumed it would be prounded?

3) Does Marie sound OK with it? We're kinda worried it might sound too much like the word "calamari".

1) Reminds me of kalamazoo - but there was something else bothering me about it, and then I read it in your post - calamari. That's what was bugging me.

2) I like Calla for the flower reference. I don't think it will get mispronounced - you have two Ls there. If it were one, I could see a problem.

I really like that name! Very cute. But once you mentioned it, I do see the reference to calamari, which many kids might do.

I'm sure most people know how to pronounce Calla (as in calla lily). I kind of like it ... a little different but still feminine sounding.

However, I do not like it with Marie.

I thought is was pretty until I read the rest of your post and you mentioned calamari...now that's I all I see...and I don't like it. sorry.

FWIW...I have a friend who named her DD...Kylie Mara...and I've always joked with her about calamari too.

I like Calla. Just not Calla Marie. All I can see now is 'calamari.' Just pick a different middle name

My friend's daughter is named Calla and it's lovely.

I don't know if the Marie part matters so much unless you plan to constantly refer to her as Calla Marie.

I love Calla, it's on my short list. It never dawned on me about calamari until I read the rest of your post. I don't really care for Marie as a mn since I think it was severely overused in my generation.

I love Calla. A friend's daughter is named Calla and I've always liked it. I've never noticed anyone mispronouncing it or muddling it in any crazy way.

However, I don't think it should be paired with Marie. I see Calamari and I think you could find a better combination.

Calla is pretty. If Marie has some sort of family significance then use it. I don't think that kids will figure out "calamari" at all.

It's okay, just NMS. I knew the pronunciation, because I assumed it was like the flower, the calla lily.

I don't think it sounds like calamari . I would assume she won't always go by both names. At any rate, even if she did, I think it's ok.

I love the name Calla, my sister just named her daughter Calla. Her name is Calla Joy, but she was almost Calla Louise. I think those are good options. LOVE the name Calla.
