Babies: 0 - 3 Months

I don't know which is worse

The last two nights LO has been so crabby.  She would sleep much of the day and then wake up around 4-5pm and stay up.  She gets so over tired but will just fight sleep, no matter what I try.  Finally, around 10 or so she'll fall asleep and be out for 6-7 hours!  It's been so nice to get a long stretch of sleep but I almost wonder if I'd rather get up once during that time to nurse her and have a happy baby at night.  Actually, I'd rather have both!  A girl can dream right??? Smile

  • I can't believe you are complaining about this routine!! I couldn't be more jealous...my LO hasn't slept longer than 3 hrs. at any given moment. Just enjoy your sleep b/c most of us aren't getting any Tongue Tied

  • My DS went through this when he was a little over a month old.  It lasted a couple of weeks and was a little frustrating but now he goes down by 7:30, I can't get him to stay awake any longer, will sleep until 2 or 3 then nurse and go back down until 6.  I love his new schedule and it's so much nicer having a happy baby at night and even down early.  I have an evening to myself again.  Hopefully your LO is only in this phase for a little while.  It can be exhausting.

I know that I'm blessed with her sleeping and shouldn't complain.  It's just tough watching her crying all evening when nothing seems to calm her and having a toddler to take care of too.  DH is a great help, but I just wish I knew what was wrong with her!

  • In my opinion it sounds like she is ready for an early bed time.  You should try to keep her up more during the day and then put her down around 6:30 or 7:00 for the night.  I bet she will start sleeping all the way through until 6 or 7.  The earlier babies go to bed, the longer they sleep and the sooner a schedule is truly established. GL!!
