Well I didn't think it was that weird until I saw some opinions on it in a post the other day, but when I was in college, I babysat for a little girl named Campbell. I thought it was adorable and fit her perfectly. Plus it was her mom's maiden name, so I thought it was even better that it was a family name! She goes by Campbell or Cam.

My sister's name is Mairead (mer-aid). When we were kids, I thought it was a huge pain b/c its not phonetic and people always got mispronounced it, but now I love it.

Very cute! I've never heard of that, but now I love it!

Priyanka - I have many multi-cultural names where I teach. I thought that name was odd first, but now I like it. NOT going to ever use it, but I think it's pretty. It has different spellings, too.

Tzeidl. Not that I would ever name my kid that (just too Jewish for my taste, even if I am Jewish). Although, I thought it was interesting that her parents named her after a Jewish character in "Fiddler on the Roof" when they weren't Jewish. She was ecstatic that I pronounced her name correctly on the first day of class.
When I was at a good friend's wedding, the groom's niece/flower girl was named Narnia. Not something I would use but she totally pulled it off and I really loved it on her.
Also I knew some people who named their DD Avonlea. Normally I hate place names for FNs but I really liked it and it fit.
I have a friend with a DD named Calla, like the lily. I think it is pretty and something you don't hear everyday.
This is actually on my list for the past few months. Someone mentioned Callahan a while back and while I like that name I shortened it to Call and fell in love with it.
Sadly, Holland (nn Holly) - it was a post on here a while ago, and the more I think of it, the more I'm starting to like it. I reserve the right to change my mind, but I didn't think it would be on this one.
Anyway, I'm noticing a lot more names that are word names or different/strange names with nn that are legitimate.
Strangest that I didn't (and in the above category) was Hallelujah (nn Halle).
Re: Weird names for girls
I don't know about 'strange', but every year I have names of student that grow up me (usually nice kids lol) that are nms..
This past year, for example: Flora, Veronica, and Blakely.

I taught a little girl named Neil...traditionally a boys name, but it fit her so well. I loved it!
I also knew a girl at my HS named Comfort...totally fit her too, but I could never pull it off with my own child.
