I am shocked at how many of my mom friends don't know about basic carseat safety. Do they not read (or even glance over) the manual??? Or the actual seat for that matter? My seat has a giant sticker on the side with all the pertinent information about weight & height limits - do I have a special secret seat that no one else has?!
One friend insisted that her children had to be in an infant seat until they were a year old. Like almost got into a screaming match with me about it. She had no clue that the weight limit was 25 lbs....something all 3 of her children passed up by 9 months old.
And another who used the same car seats for her 9 year old and newborn.
And another who turned her son forward facing at 7 months because he got "car sick". Really??
Ok, vent over!
Re: Shock at my mom friends - re: carseat safety
Even some younger moms have no clue....the other day, I saw a mom put her two year old into a car seat that looked like it had been in an accident!
*raises hand* Welcome me to the clueless club.
I may know about carseat safety and guildelines, but I have been over the manual over and over again and cannot for the life of me figure out how to raise the shoulder straps the next slot up. DH keeps saying he's going to do it, and I've spent I don't know how many nights trying to figure it out myself. Just call me dumb blonde.
If there is a video out there, please point me to it, cause the diagrams are NOT helping me at ALL!
I have a Graco.
Do you have a MyRide 65? Go to the back of the car seat, and you'll see where the straps go down. There's a buckle-type thing that you have to get the straps out of. Then they're loose, and you can pull them through the slots on the car seat and put them through the right slot, then put them back on the buckle on the back and you're good to go. Does that make sense?
