NTR: why are people still shy about buying condoms?

My goodness. I work in a pharmacy and people still come all the way back here to ring up. I don't get it.

  • That's funny. It reminds me of when DH and I went to the adult store together and he was embarassed. Uh DH, who are you embarassed in front of, the people buying the strap-ons and milf videos or the guy behing the counter ringing up golf ball sized butt beads?

  • I use to be shy not anymore though. I'll buy a big 'ol pack too :)

  • LOL they are still locked up in the small town i live in!  it cracks me up because someone from pharmacy has to come out and open the case for you.  it's really silly!

  • I still make DH buy them. I don't know why I'm shy, I just am.

  • Oh no, I'm not shy at all...

I just ring them up with my other groceries or at Walmart...I have no shame in my game Stick out tongue

  • LMAO!! I refuse to purchase because of embarrassment! I don't even like to think about purchasing them :p Totally immature I know
  • no shame here, although I have an IUD so we don't use them-

i'm not embarassed to buy lube, ect, but it isn't the only thing i'm getting usually!

  • Well at least they are buying them.  I'm shy about buying certain items but I still do it.

I recently bought a pregnancy test, 2 drumstick ice creams & a dog snuggie at Walgreens.  Very awkward! lol....Oh well!

  • I have bought them at Target with my 13 yr old, 3 yr old and 22 mo old with me.  No shame here...they can obviously see why I need them! lol
  • I don't know, I suspect a lot of people don't like total strangers thinking about them having sex, which is pretty much the only reason a person would be buying condoms. I don't really care, but I have found myself shuffling everything from condoms to tampons to pregnancy tests under less private items like a box of Cheerios while walking through Target before.

    LOL.

I think buying a pregnancy test is way more awkward. Every time I do it seems like the cashier either doesn't know how to act and avoids eye contact and rings me up as fast as possible OR has way too much commentary on it. No one can just ring me up and make small talk about how much they like the DVD I'm buying or something.

  • I'm actually one of those people (although i just found out i can't use condoms anymore) I guess it's the idea that people know i'm having sex. i mean a duh, i have a child but still! when i thought i was pregnant a few months ago, buying pregnancy tests while having an infant was super embarrassing. i felt like people were looking at me like, hi, use some birth control. haha
  • idk.  but that's funny.  i guess they are 16 years old still the moment they pick up the box.  that or they are embarrassed about having sex?  you should totally go over the loud speaker for a price check - bahahah!
