In light of my post below, I was just curious as to how many mamas/mamas-to-be are/plan to be working (and if so, how much) or a SAHM? So here's a poll![Poll]
I return to work part time - 3 days per week, although I get paid for 5 - in October and it stays that way until next June, when it changes to full time again.
i'm a special snowflake too. I'm planning to go back to work full-time for x months (6? i have no idea) - long enough to really "experience" being a working mom. then decide whether i want to keep going, stay home, or do something else (no idea what). MH and I agreed long ago I should have the option of staying at home if I choose to do so, so we've made all major decisions with that in mind. unfortunately, my job doesn't really have the flexibility to work part-time, though I *may* be able to work from home 1-2 days per week. i can't imagine those days would be very productive though. so, we shall see.
eta: i'll take about 5.5 months off for mat leave.
back to work - full time. Went back after the 12 week FMLA (started the day Jack was born, b/c I was "working from home" before his actual arrival day).
I will respond to you other post re: my feelings about it
I go back to work full time on October 18th. He'll be approximately 12 weeks old then, depending on when exactly he's born.
I'd really prefer to be home until he's 5 or 6 months old, but it's just not possible (MH doesn't have health insurance with his job, so I carry that for us. After 12 weeks we'd have to pay for insurance, and it's really expensive).
I've got to go back full time. I am trying to work out staying out 16 weeks. I am due in Sept so if I stayed out just FMLA, I would have to go back right before Christmas. I would rather just start the new year fresh with getting back to my job & daycare. Plus it would be really nice to be able to wait until baby is 4 months (as long as I can work until the day I go into labor - dr & God willing!)
Self-employed... currently working one afternoon a week and will transition to a regular part-time schedule of 3 afternoons a week in September, when baby is 5 months. I think we'll try that out for a year and see whether it's a good fit for us and our parents (who are providing childcare).
I love my work and am grateful for the flexibility, but the downside is that we're fully dependent upon DH for our medical benefits. It's scary to pull all those eggs in one basket in this kind of economy.
Re: Poll: Work?

I'm the only one working in the family, so I had to go back!
I did really enjoy spending all the time with DH while on maternity leave, even if I was exhausted and feeling crappy most of the time.
