Do you BF?
I'm curious to see if there is any correlation between BFing and waking throughout the night.
I'm still BFing, and my kid wakes every couple hours looking for the boob. She's a boob-crazed maniac.
Seriously, I doubt I'll ever be able to wean her.
Re: Moms of crappy sleepers
Oh, also...
Does your LO sleep with a pacifier? Mine does not. She's never had a pacifier (unless you count my boobs)
I still BF and DD wakes up about 2-3 times each night and she wakes trying to find my bood as well. We co-sleep most times and if I don't get it to her fast enough she starts sucking my face or chest lol ... I don't see weaning anytime soon
she never took one I am the official pacifier
After DS turned one, I stopped BFing him during the night. He STTN now
I had to have DH soothe him back to sleep for a week or so until DS stopped waking up hungry.
DS took a pacifier early on, until about 5 months then he switched to thumb sucking. I haven't noticed a difference in his sleep patterns becuase of this.
THERE'S HOPE!!!
This! EXACTLY except I have girl
We stopped co-sleeping / night-nursing at 9 months b/c it was just time.
She was waking over 10 times a night to nurse although rarely ever really eating. It was obviously a habit she had developed that she felt she "had" to nurse to get back to sleep.
I went from being awake so many time I lost track to having a STTN baby. It was truly a miracle transition she was obviously ready for.
If your baby is nursing plenty during the day and eating solids, there really isn't a need a 1yr+ to eat overnight.
It took around 3 weeks to gradually cut out all overnight feedings but it worked wonders for both of us.
SAHM to two sweet girls, both born at home; Baby #3 in 2013!
DD usually wakes 1 or 2 times a night. I am still nursing her and she does go to bed with a pacifier. She won't take the pacifier to go back to sleep without first nursing though.
We have recently stopped bed sharing because I wanted to allow a lot of time for her to get used to sleeping in her crib before we have another baby this December. She's actually done a little better in her own room.
Let's try this again...
I still BF and DD generally sleeps through the night - 7-5 and not a minute longer. We never need to set an alarm clock. When she wakes up at 5 she wants to nurse immediately and is fussy, crying, etc until I go to her and we nurse. I am trying to wean her off the 3/4:00 nursing when i pick her up from day care. yesterday I did well, today sucked. I could not distract her with anything and finally gave in. I still have to nurse her to sleep to. We are never weaning but her wedding night will be odd if I have to nurse her to sleep! Sigh
Oh and she took a pacifier once, one day, and that was it!

Yes, I bf and he did start STTN the month after he weaned.
It was also the month after his molars broke through and his ear infections stopped, so I don't know if the bf had that big of an impact.
He does sleep with a paci.

This! We would cosleep and he would wake up like 10 times during the night looking for my boob. He was addicted! On the 4 of July, I said that enough was enough and I put him in his crib. I NEVER let the kid cry, but he cried for 5 minutes, put his head down and STTN!
There is hope.
