TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

So, I am kind of drunk. Anyone want to see my nursery bedding?

It's not what you think. DH asked that, while elephants can be accessories in the room, could we maybe pick something bright, cheerful and NOT elephant oriented.

Which, I can't blame the guy. There are A LOT of elephants in our house, and I still want my tattoo. He's getting elephanted out.

So I have decided on this:

https://www.target.com/Little-Tree-Piece-Baby-Bedding/dp/B002RWMMKK/ref=br_1_3?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&qid=1277841556&searchView=grid5&sr=1-3&node=2309692011&searchRank=pmrank&searchPage=1&rh=&searchSize=30&id=Little%20Tree%20Piece%20Baby%20Bedding&searchBinNameList=purchasing_channel%2Ctarget_com_category-bin%2Ctarget_com_primary_color-bin%2Ctarget_com_character-bin%2Cprice%2Ccollection_name-bin%2Ctarget_com_brand-bin%2Citem_styling

I think it works for boy or girl; the blue is more aqua, and thus not so "boy" to me.

I want to paint the walls either the green or the yellow in the leaves, with a chair rail dividing a slightly darker tone on the bottom from a lighter tone on the top.

The agency I talked to today, and who I think we'll go with, advised thinking about and planning the nursery. They do not give you a ton of time before the baby comes home to you (consent forms are signed ahead of time, so as to avoid adoptive parents dealing with multiple failed matches. I will miss my child's birth, but I don't think I could handle more loss like that. So I'm cool with it.)

I'm jumping the gun, but it's fun to think about this stuff!

Also, this was long. Hooray beer!

  • OOOooOoo pretty, I really like it. Nice and light, not overly "baby-cutesy" which I'm not fond of in nurseries.

And I agree with you, while missing the birth is disappointing, I cannot imagine being there for that event only to have the parents change their minds. That would probably kill me.

I don't think you're jumping the gun at all, you have to be prepared right?

  • I'm so excited. The room has sat there, with the furnature my daddy refinished the second he found out about BC. It's such a sad room - just empty, and heartbreaking, with an angel plaque and nothing else.

We are ready to take it back!

  • The bedding is adorable!  I hope you get a match very quickly.  I can't wait to see the room when it's done.

  • Allison, I think it's lovely.  I love the idea of painting the bottom half under the chair rail a different shade than the top, and the bedding is adorable.

Super cute!!!  (I plan on doing blue & orange for either gender, so I'm a big fan.)

FWIW, my SIL just adopted a baby girl earlier this year.  It was just like your adoption advisor said...very weneedtoactoonthisrightnowrushrushrush--here's your baby!  They had NOTHING.  So what a great homework assignment to finally get that nursery ready for your forever baby.  :)

Please post pics once it's officially in the works!  And please have a beer for me, too!!!

  • I think all of this you posted is awesome! :-) I hope you get a match quickly, too. I know you're going to be an awesome mommy, no matter how it happens!

I had actually looked at that set online just a few days ago. Talk about getting ahead of myself, I keep thinking if this one works out and we'd be fortunate enough to eventually have a 2nd baby, we probably couldn't afford another whole nursery of a different gender if that would be the case, so I keep checking out the "gender neutral' options.
