Burning at the injection site with Gonal F?

I'm delurking to ask a question...

I have an almost 3 year old and have been TTC since 5/09. I had a ruptured ectopic pregnancy on 2/10 and did three cycles of IUI with femara. The Femara never did its job of stimulating follicle growth on my left side (my only tube).

So, now I'm doing IUI with gonal f. My first three injections went smooth as silk. Last night, OUCH! It burned very badly. Anyone have any tips/ideas as to how I can prevent that? I wonder if it's because I didn't let the injection area dry completely after I prepped it with the alcohol swab?

    I use follistim, which is another name for Gonal F and it shouldn't burn.  The one time I had burning was when I didn't let the alcohol dry, so I would assume the same to be true for you.  Lots of luck to you!

    Sheesh! I am learning new things everyday with IF. I didn't know these were the same thing.

    Thank you! Last night, I was militant about letting the alcohol dry and thankfully, it didn't burn. Learned my lesson :)

     I go in for an ultrasound tomorrow; here's to hoping for some good eggs on my left side!

    I did Gonal-F injects on 2 IUI cycles and it burned most of the time during the injection and after.

    The difference I did notice was when I was dosing from a multi-dose vial (my 2nd cycle I need about 4 extra shots unexpectedly after I didn't respond to Clomid) it NEVER hurt but the single dose 75iu vials I had used before stung like a biatch.

    I have no idea why one hurt less, but I know my injection site was dry every time. It didn't make a difference if the meds were cold/room temp or if I did/didn't ice down the area either. Good luck!
