What do you think of giving a baby boy two middle names? Does a significant reason behind the two names change anything? What potential logistical problems come to mind?
I don't see any issues with using two middle names for a boy or a girl. No one uses their mn on a daily basis anyway so....I say go for it. I am if we have a little girl!
If they were important or there was a story behind it, then I could see using two middle names. My hope would be that they wouldn't be super long or anything like two, five syllable names just to make it easier when it comes to filling out paperwork, but that's a minor issue.
We are doing two middle names if we have a boy: Edward Randall (our Dads). I have always looked up to my Dad, and wanted his name somehow. My FIL actually helped us get pregnant. He is a doctor, and had been working with us so we could get have a baby, so he is a definite too! I see no issue with it. Some people I tell think I am crazy, but all I say to them is "Hello, my parents gave me two last names. I couldn't hide that, and I turned out alright! If the child doesn't like it, they don't have to tell anyone about it!"
I personally don't like the idea of two mn's. However, if I had two names that meant the world to me for whatever reason, and I didn't want to use one as a first name, I'd do it. If you love it, go for it!
We are planning on using two middle names -- it will be a family name from my side of the family and one from my husband's side of the family. The first name will be something unique that we both love. That way the baby gets their own name -- and we still get to honour special people from both sides.
I've always had two middle names - I dropped the second one when I got married so I could keep my maiden name as a second middle name. Both of our kids have my maiden name as their second middle name.
I've never had a problem, for me or them, with paperwork or anything else.
Our family tradition is to have 2 middle names. My second middle name is my maiden name, which I changed when I got married. Both my DH and our son's second middle name is DH's Mom's last name (she died when he was 5). I haven't come across any logistical problems yet. I do think significance is important, but not necessary.
It is up to you, who cares what others think is my opinion. I know plenty of girls/guys with 2 middle names! Go for it!

Everyone in my family has two middle names, I actually thought that was normal practice for the longest time. I have never had any issues, when filling out paper work I tend to leave the second one out, but its more b/c I am not close to the person I was named after for that one then any other reason. My son has two middle names and so will this baby. We always use family names and this way both DH and I get a say in what they would be.
My DH is German and it is apparently a German tradition to have two middle names - one for each grandparent of the same gender. DH has two mns and wants to do the same with our kids. I'm not super crazy about it, but I'll probably give in.
I have two and it's a PITA for filling out forms and such. It just gets confusing b/c there are some things (like my passport, driver's license) which have all 4 names, but most forms only have space for one middle initial.

We plan on using 2 mn's bc we'd like to honor our birthparents if possible.
The only issue I could see and it's not even a big one is that in the future for filling out paperwork there may not always be room for both mn's.
