Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Toddler's Favorite Breakfast?

Right now, we are still on pureed cereal and fruits for breakfast, but I'm wanting to expand my breakfast selection. What is your toddler's favorite breakfast? What is their easiest?

Thanks so much!

Re: Toddler's Favorite Breakfast?

  • For the longest time it was a banana (sometimes 2).  Now it seems to be fruit yogurt.  He will beg to have the fridge opened and then he'll grab one out.

  • That's what we do for breakfast too! He will eat Cheerios by himself and toast.  But he still won't feed himself cut up fruit, why I don't know.  So I still give him the pureed fruit.  I think I am going to try cut up pancakes next.

  • Oh jeez, it changes every couple of days--she likes to keep us on our toes!

Loved poached eggs for a while, then didn't, now does again.  Can sometimes substitute a hardboiled egg, but usually not.

Loves bananas.  She'll settle for blueberries, strawberries, cherries, etc. if we're out of bananas, though she'll still point at the banana hanger every three minutes anyway.

I would make her toast sometimes, but now because she has 4 or 5 teeth coming in (!) and they're bothering her, I give her untoasted bread so it's softer.  (Trader Joe's makes a cinnamon roll bread that she and I both love.)

    Pancakes, waffles, French toast.

    Yogurt.

Sometimes she'll eat a little sausage patty, sometimes not.  I give her THESE.  Not a big bacon eater since all of her teeth started coming at once, but she used to eat it if DH and I had some, like on the weekends.

Drinks a TON of milk at breakfast.

Occasionally cereal--Cheerios and Life are her favorites.

ETA:  I should mention, we mix and match all of these--she doesn't eat all of this every day!

  • yogurt and quaker oatmeal are his favorite. I do the fruit oatmeals. He loves them and they are both pretty easy. Sometime banana too..loves them! And these he lllloves and you just po them in the microwave for 10 seconds...no syrup needed and they are sooooo good! I found them at our local grocery store...so easy! https://www.dewafelbakkers.com/products/waffles/holland-waffles

  • pancakes and bananas are a favorite in our house right now...but toast, scrambled eggs, waffles, cheerios, and strawberries work too.
  • hot grape nuts. I ate this all the time as a kid with lots of butter and sugar, but i just make it with milk (45 seconds in the microwave) and mix in some fruit. I recently bought some for the first time in years during a crazy Safeway cereal sale and tried it out on her. She loved it!

  • Scrambled eggs w/ cheese and banana! This goes for both boys! They also love yogurt and really any kind of fresh fruit.

  • blueberry pancakes, breakfast burrito w/eggs, cheese & salsa, crepes w/cream cheese & fruit, honey bunches of oats cereal, fruit, yogurt

  • At her age P ate a lot of Yogurt & a banana or egg, fruit, and cheerios. Now she still eats that, but we have expanded to Turkey sausage & a banana or sometimes she'll eat a waffle & fruit. I've tried bagels & cream cheese but she's not that into breads. She only likes pancakes from Ihop, lol!

  • I have to preface this by saying my LO won't take fruit unless it's pureed.  Most daycare days (M-F) he gets a puree, but weekends he gets a scrambled egg, fruit puree (homemade) and bits of pancake or waffle that I make.  We also try to keep him home one day a week for breakfast and give him that.  He stayed home this morning and had a banana/raspberry puree, scrambled egg, and a few bits of a blueberry Eggo waffle.
  • Mini pancakes (no syrup) and fruit -- he loves blueberries, watermelon, red grapes, bananas.

Sometimes I still do oatmeal (love the iron it gives him) and a puree or some no-sugar-added applesauce.

Today, though, he tried some cinnamon swirl toast and ate a whole slice.  :)

He's not a big fan of yogurt in the morning, for some reason.

  • On the weekends I sometimes make eggs and bacon, which she loves. Otherwise I am gone before she wakes up in the morning. DH usually feeds her granola bars, cereal, or something equally simple.

"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut
  • top 3 breakfast

    yogurt with

    waffles

    pancakes (with blueberries)

    scrambled eggs.

Also, DH and DS sit and eat cheerios in milk together. (DH feeds to him and he LOOOOVES it)

  • His favorite is scrambled eggs with cheese and biscuits & gravy, followed by fruit of any kind.

Easiest breakfast would be a slice of bread with cream cheese on it and fruit.

  • She LOVES oatmeal. I will make it with an apple, banana, pear (etc.) puree instead of water or milk. One stage 2 jar is the perfect consistency for one pack.
  • An omelet, toast, blueberries (or other fruit) and a couple cubes of cheese. He normally only has the egg and fruit, today he wanted to eat a lot though.

  • Her usual breakfast is oatmeal or yogurt with fruit puree. Her current favorite is strawberry and pineapple puree in plain yogurt. She was literally trying to attack the cup when I took it out of bag as I was dropping her off this morning, so she ended up with breakfast a little early. We're working on getting her to eat pancakes, scrambled eggs and toast (texture issues).

  • soaked oatmeal with honey and fruit - we have the same thing every weekday

weekends we have whole wheat pancakes, bacon, and maybe some pork scrapple or some other protein.

He used to love eggs, but will no longer touch them.

  • Eggs and toast or Cheerios and a banana.
  • DD is not into fruit unless it's a puree.  She eats yogurt, whole wheat toast with butter, scrambled eggs, eggos (no syrup), french toast (no syrup), cheerios, blueberry muffin

  • 1/2 hard boiled egg, whole wheat toast with cream cheese, berries, yogurt with mashed fruit or fruit puree, whole wheat french toast, scrambled eggs.  Obviously not all of this(!) but she loves all these things for breakfast.
