I finally talked to Tyler's pediatrician last week about his initial allergy test results. She says they're "fairly impressive" and decided to refer us to an allergist at Children's.
I made an appointment to take him next Thursday and when I scheduled it, they told me the initial visit could take 2-3 hours. Didn't they tell you the same thing when you scheduled Katelyn? What on earth do they do for 2-3 hours? I am really nervous about having to entertain him at the doctor's office for that length of time.

Aww, poor baby. I am sorry you have to go through this!
They did tell me 2-3 hours, but it did not take that long. Since they already tested Tyler, I am not sure what they are going to do that would take that long. The doctor came in and talked to me for about 20-30 minutes just finding out what symptoms and problems she was having. He then had the skin testing done and talked about the results. We actually ended up going for bloodwork because her skin testing wasn't clear. She broke out in hives every where so he couldn't tell which ones were true allergens.
I would say I was there for 1.5 hours. Plus we did skin testing. Hmmm, I wonder why they told you so long?
I was wondering that too. I really don't think they would have to do the skin test, but maybe they will. They said no antihistamines for 5 days prior but we are not giving him anything now, so that's no biggie. I think maybe when you call to set up that initial appointment they have a script that says this is how long the first appointment takes, and they don't deviate from it. I hope.
You didn't have bloodwork before Katelyn's visit, right? I really don't know what to make of it, I guess I will find out next week!

If the said no antihistamines, it makes me think they will do skin testing. Unless, like you said, they are just reading a script for all new patients.
We did not have bloodwork done before her visit. We had it done after skin testing failed. Keep me updated!!!
I will let you know how it turns out!
Our pediatrician's office also keeps a nutritionist on staff, so I am waiting for them to call and set up a consult.
Isn't this all so eye-opening? I went to Kroger yesterday and was just reading labels on everything and I honestly do not know what I am going to feed my kid. He's going to turn into a giant mum-mum because it's about all that's safe for him to eat right now.

It is very eye opening. I have never read labels in my life! A brand for kids is Ians. Here is their site. I love their chicken nuggets and I just bought the french toast sticks today. Here is their site. I like how you can tell them what allergens you have and it will tell you what you can eat of their product.
